well its really hard to say, but i would note all the noise and when they happen. there's another thread in the general section where i said what to look for. then pull the tranny and hope that its the clutch. if not then you don't really have many options but to get a used tranny or rebuild the...
do you have a afpr? if you do what is the fuel pressure set to?
if i remember right the lex/550 run insanely rich on most cars so you have to drop the base fuel pressure down a bit for it to even idle. you will look like a diesel if you leave the base stock. i'm guessing you don't have a WB...
yes it matters if it happens under a load(accelerataing) or not (cruise).
before you pull the tranny note whether it happens in all gears, some gears, under a load, neutral with clutch in, or with the clutch out. i'm not saying its the tranny but if you do have to get it rebuilt these are...
does it sound like gear wine while in neutral? do any other gears make noise? is it under load or not?
a failed mainshaft snout/bearing will make a wine/grumble mainly in 3rd gear under load because all the torque is going from the input shaft, to the counter shaft, then to the end of the...
make sure your o2 sensor is working properly same with the maf sensor. and obviously see what codes you get.
also the tech section is better for something like this.
i know the thread is a little old.
^grim your talking about the screw with the allen head that goes into the body. right? i was thinking when adjusting it back and forth wouldn't that shred the teflon? i'm not sure if i should bother with it. it seems to be working fine. but i don't have a...
champion is your best bet. just ask for jeff and only jeff. he deals with supra parts every day. he was able to hunt down a first gear for me which my local dealership told me no longer existed.
hell yeah poodles. :biglaugh:
that thing flew out of the gate. even though i pulled on him the whole way down track. you can here me chirp second and i gain about a car length on him right there.
ok so its not definite. but if you look closely where its bent its at a fixed point like someone slipped a jack under there and went to town. obviously i don't know for sure but thats what why i said that.
edit: its.....lol

thats where i got mine. holds 15psi and gives a nice woosh. can't really go wrong there.
yeah. that was a killer start. if only i could get off the line like that now. the mbc was nice because it didn't make much boost in first so i could lanch pretty hard while keeping traction. now my car is a full second faster in the quarter but my 60fts are worse. lol.
i was uploading some vids from the autocross today and came across this one from last year that i didn't even know got filmed. its my old crashed car with no front bumper smoking a 350z. i was watching it and was like wow that looks a lot like our track. then i was like WTF THATS MY OLD CAR...
i have the truboost and i love it compared to my old mbc. faster spool, less creep, and way more boost in first/second. plus it saves me gas because i can just turn it off and only run 8lbs. no comparison other than mbc's are cheap.
i was looking through my photobucket and found this old vid of mine. i don't think i ever posted it so i will right now for the hell of it. 7m of course. :biglaugh...
look around in the for sale section on here and sf. you can find a stockish rebuilt 7mgte mhg long block for about 1200 give or take a few hundered. just make sure its from a respected member that knows there shit. now with the 800 left you can use that for just little odds and ends to finish...
