You said the starter is "newish" when do you get it and from where?

Sharp cutoff yes, width, hellllll no. Halogen projectors have to use a light source that is less than half the brightness of HID on average, so they're designed differently.
Years ago when you could get complete MKIII front clips from japan with 1JZ's in them for cheap, the 1JZ was a great swap. Since then the gap has closed on 1JZ and 2JZ swap costs and reliability, especially with a 2JZ-GE NA-T running on 7M-GTE electronics.
No info on what clutch you have...
If the flywheel was cut but the backstep wasn't cut as well, there's your issue. Also, you need to do a break in of the clutch or it gets glazed and doesn't hold for shit...
But he didn't spend that much on this car, he's spent that much over a few years on several different cars.
The owner kept changing what he wanted done to it, he wasn't saying yes to the shop.

Steering lock isn't an issue on the road course, only in drifting :)
They're fat cars, but they have good suspensions and room for quite a lot of tire so it helps immensely. It's not on par with something like a Miata, but that's in a totally different class...
