Do an Infiniti FX35 retrofit. It's a small, 2.5" projector, bixenon (hi/lo beam) that puts out a great amount of light for it's size. I did a TFX retro on my M3 and it's fantastic. I'd never go back. I used FX35 projectors, Actura TSX clear lenses, blacked out the shield, removed the second...
There are BMW guys running moderate boost levels up to 400rwhp on 10.5:1. I'm not saying it's a good idea, but again, with a proper tune and only moderate power goals, I don't see why not. Most of the BMW guys (e36 M3) install a thicker head gasket in to drop compression so they can run more...
Oh ok, I gotcha. For only a few hundred dollars more, you could run all GTE electronics and have a better system overall. I personally wouldn't ever run a turbo setup on the GE electronics.
(I'm dropping a GE->T motor in my Pickup this summer. N/A block, turbo electronics lots of other goodies. ;))
With a proper tune, there is no problem at all running the 9.1:1 compression ratio. 9.1 isn't even "high" by today's standards for a boosted car.
OP- if you use an N/A block, just make sure you have a damn proper tune, run good gas, and you should be fine.
laotionracer- how are you...
Chris, take care dude! Congrats on the Vette, check back in from time to time and post in the Other Cars section. I love me some V8 power. :)
Edit: gorgeous!
Forgot to add- no, I'm never nervous because I extensively maintain every car I own and make it a habit to pick it apart piece by piece upon buying them. That way I know what I'm getting my self into. If it breaks, I fix/upgrade it so that part won't fail again- unless it's designed to.
My M3...
No.
Kinda. Recirculate to the accordion intake hose so that you're not releasing metered air. Having an atmospherically vented BOV doesn't let unmetered air INTO the system, it lets metered air OUT, thus causing a rich condition, and often times stalling/backfiring, etc...
I'm not saying it's better by any means, just that it seems to be working. :) I love me some IRS cars.
It's just neat that something so far below the price of an almighty M3 can do a decent job keeping up right out of the box.
Guys, cut him some slack and stop being assholes. Great way to greet someone to our forum. :nono: He is obviously new to the car and doesn't know what he has. And if push comes to shove, yeah, you look like fools because it IS turbocharged- regardless of whether or not it's a GTE block or not...
Seriously. I'm delighted to hear that. LOL. All these years I've been thinking you had wood in there holding it together! I didn't care how good it looked, the wood just turned me off. :)
I don't know why you guys bother. Just find an engine harness (turbo or N/A, depending what your motor is) that matches the year of your chassis. Then it's literally PnP. I'll never understand why people cut/splice etc.. to make them work. That's so many more possible failure points, in my...
Glad you caught it. I was going to say that sounds exactly like a CPS issue, and since you rewired it maybe verify your new wire positions in the new plug(s). :) When you set the timing, you probably know this but I'll throw it out there anyway, make sure everything's at 0° TDC, CPS set...
For lows to stay on with highs, a simple relay setup with a diode will do nicely. Run the diode from the high beam feed wire to the low beam relay and you're golden.
Also, if you're doing the NSX setup, don't use wood for anything.
