You need to actually check the engine codes. The light only stays on when its considered a more important problem. Lesser problems get stored but do not trip the light.

I've noticed on some 7m's with the divorced wastegate dp alone they are running near FCO. I wouldn't be surprised if the shims were plenty to push it over the edge. Get a gauge on it though to be sure, it could also be a boost leak sucking your power as well.
