I had braces when I was a kid, my teeth originally were very crooked. No major pain or problems. Worst part for me was the initial visit when they stuff some clay crap in your mouth to get a mold of your teeth. It tasted horrible. I'm sure they use better stuff these days 
I wore the retainers for maybe 6 months, then trashed them. Over 10 years later my teeth are still near perfect.

i had em, and they did wonders. and the bands dont hurt that bad, its the fucking chains that they use to bring your teath closer together. (like the normal things that go around your teath, only they are all linked together.

Thank god my teeth were already nice.
Getting my wisdom teeth pulled was still the most fun I've had at a dentist.
LOL I wouldn't have hoped for crazy flavorings, anything besides "clay dirt flavor" would have been an improvement. I mean they practically fill your entire mouth with it, you can't help but get a good taste.
