i never thought i would be making this post, but i think im hitting fuel cut. i just installed my BIC DDP. thats it, the rest of the exhaust is comming sometime this week.
well, i went out for a drive to see how it would run and holy crappers i couldn't stop smiling! i did not expect such a power increase. well after enjoying my whole car rattle from the exhaust pipe right under my feet and actually being able to spin my tires, i hit fuel cut..fuel cut is when you boost hard and then you feel the engine just shut off and if you have your foot on it, it jerks you...this is fuel cut right?
what i got is....a k&n fipk, hks ssqv, and 3 washers in my wastegate. i would peg my stock boost needle on my stock exhaust, but i dont know what it did with my ddp, it didnt respond fast enough.
i have a manual boost controller but its not installed because i wanted to get an aftermarket gauge before doing so. my roomate has one laying around...do you think i can take the shims out and put the manual boost gauge in and adjust it according to his gauge...so you think this would help the fuel cut? what else can i do to prevent this fuel cut? fuel pump? afm?
dammit, more money.

Try removing the shims on your WG and then see where your boost reads. Install one at a time until your happy. If you remove them all and you still hit it then...

yes remove the shims i bet thats causing feul cut faster, plus its bad for the turbo itself.

even if u take off the shims and and add the manual boost controller u will have boost spikes and most likely casue feul cut.
u can always port out the WG or get a new WG to maybe solve the boost spike.
Get a lex afm with all the other goodies ( i hope u know'em) to increase the volume of air coming in.

I've noticed on some 7m's with the divorced wastegate dp alone they are running near FCO. I wouldn't be surprised if the shims were plenty to push it over the edge. Get a gauge on it though to be sure, it could also be a boost leak sucking your power as well.

I was digging yesterday for ddp information and most people that were getting boost creep (maybe another issue all together~read:i'm a noob) had shims that were causing it. And/or the waste gate flap was hitting the down pipe; fixed by just grinding a little on the DDP. If that didn't fix the problem; it was recommended to port your waste gate.

I can't remember the thread but if you search for "ddp info" or "ddp comparison" should be able to find it. Randy had a couple of posts on it himself if that's any help.
