    painting the turbo compressor housing

Plain old rustoleum silver has always worked fine for me on the compressor housing. It bakes on there from the heat and is hard as nails after a few days. Eric Hsu from Cosworth actually uses this on his racecars (and made up his own name for it).... see "eric coating" in this article...

    Remember Aloshan?

Hey, $15,000 isn't too bad... you all already forgot about his VOLKS? I think the whole problem with him was that you have to be fairly mechanically inclined to own one of these, and he just wasn't. What's worse is he refused to listen to advice from people who are. Honestly, I don't think ANY...

    Quiet BOV?

I did the fast opening setup on mine already so I could wind the spring tighter to hold boost better at part throttle. When it was set loose it didn't make it any quieter, it's about the same. Running a long pipe off it might work though, especially if I get some of that corrugated plastic tube...

    Quiet BOV?

Is anyone aware of anything to quiet down a BOV, or a BOV model that is quiet? I am getting really tired of this Greddy Type-S whistling all the time. It was cool when I was 18, but ten years later it grates on my nerves like listening to an 18 year old talk about the meaning of life. If...

Explain Blow-Off Valves to me please?

Most of the Bosch plastic BPV (used on VW, Audi, some Mitsubishi models) are only good below 15psi, above that they're known to leak boost. Something to keep in mind when upping the boost later.

Funny Ricer quote of the day!

We have a huge number of drag strips around here (englishtown, maple grove, numedia), plus 3 road courses (wall, njmp, pocono), all within a 2 hour drive of here, so we have a disproportionately large number of fast cars around. Most of them are either track-only or they hibernate 360 days of...

    Lets talk Weight Reduction

I like that aluminum bumper beam. If you design it right there's no reason it couldn't be just as strong as a steel beam while still saving a ton of weight. 500 pounds on this car is do-able without even stripping the seats and carpet out. For inspiration, look at some factory "lightweight...

changing my head light to non flips ..i got a few questions if possable

The stock headlights work awesome.... there must have been something wrong with yours if they weren't bright enough. Mine are bright as hell and I just run stock halogen sealed beam bulbs.

1jz-gte vvti dying when AFM plugged in

When the AFM is unplugged the car runs in "emergency fail-safe" mode... basically it runs off fuel maps based on RPM and TPS, and ignores the airflow. It will run that way, barely, but it's not safe (for the engine) to drive it like that and it probably runs very poorly. If plugging the AFM in...

    Megan Ez street Coilovers Feedback

I've heard the BC racing coilovers are really nice too. They are supposed to have very linear adjustments for their price ($1K), which is a problem with all budget coilovers (anything under $1500 is a budget coilover).

Make sure you're parked on flat ground when you adjust it.

Funny Ricer quote of the day!

We have lots of rice. Unfortunately the fast guys around here categorize anything that doesn't make V8 noises as rice because of that, so I get heckled by some of them.

Source for a Toyota 2L-T diesel engine in the USA?

Yes, it's for my 89' 4-runner. I'm not a fan of the 3VZE, it's a pig and is slow anyway. At least a diesel is about 28-30mpg and can be run on alternate fuels easily in an emergency. I've heard these are only about $1800, and I can sell the 3VZE for half that locally.

Source for a Toyota 2L-T diesel engine in the USA?

Like the title says, I'm trying to get my hands on a good, running, 2L-T (or 2L-TE, or any related toyota diesel engine). I'm looking for a full swap with the engine/harness/transmission and all the major stuff to swap it into something that was gas. :naughty: I've been looking, but there are...

    good old 50cent map clamp

Yeah they definitely go AFTER the SAFC. You only want to stop the ECU from seeing more than 4.3v on the map signal wire. You don't want to mess with the signal going into the SAFC. The whole problem behind using diodes is that the ecu thinks you're running 14.5psi of boost from the time you hit...

    3270 lbs street car

I'd say anything over 50 pounds is noticeable. If you slowly take weight out 5 pounds at a time though you will never really notice a difference. There will be a difference, but you just don't notice it unless you take it out 50 or 100 pounds at a time.

    What Grinds Your Gears?

I hate the people who honk at you for not breaking traffic laws like they do. I follow "no turn on red" signs. I don't cut people off to get out of a stop sign 5 seconds sooner. I don't pass people making left turns by going off the road around them. People piss me off. Sent from my...
