The 1UZ non-vvti is definitely lacking power. A vvti model with rods from an older non-vvti (they're much stronger) and a turbo system with a good tune though would do just fine. The torque curve would be flat from idle to redline. There are a few people out there who have made good power with...
Too expensive for not enough gain.
It's been hashed over many times, and if you want a motor lighter than a M or JZ, then a 1UZ is the best bet. It's not a powerhouse stock, but if you plan to turbo anyway it can make whatever power you want it to. It's also a fairly easy swap.
If you were...
I have polyurethane engine mounts, and my fan is only 1/4" from the radiator. I have the OEM 1JZ fan clutch and fan. I don't know what US stuff they're the same as, but probably close to the 2JZ-GE. I've never had a problem with fan contact. No need to go with solid mounts... just get the BIC...
With a same-side intercooler you're effectively cutting the core height in half and making it twice as long. A long, skinny intercooler... Less flow capability and more pressure drop, but lower output temps..... to a point. Once you hit a certain core length the temperature drop levels off and a...

The OEM valve on my DSM and Mazdaspeed3 stay open at idle and low throttle cruise. The valve closes as soon as you tip into the throttle, so it doesn't cause lag. It's only open under full vacuum. I think last time I checked it closes around 15 inches of mercury. I have my Greddy set this way...
Before you buy wheels online you'd better google the company you buy from. Google wheelsnext for a good read.
I got my wheels from discount tire direct. They have a size/offset/lug pattern search so you can order the size you want.
It always bothered me that the BOV is open at idle/low throttle/decel, and I figured it might be sucking in some dirt, so I picked up an oiled foam UNI Filter air filter and put it on there. Makes me feel better knowing a stray pebble can't find it's way into the BOV too.
Every import car (toyota or not) that I've ever worked on that had a bouncing speedometer had old gummed up/dried up grease in the speedometer cable assembly. It makes the cable stick and then "pop" rather than spin smoothly. If you don't fix it, eventually the cable will snap or the...
What kind of grease did you use? Normal grease won't last long, you should use special polurethane bushing grease. Energy Suspension sells it. You still need to pull and clean/repack the bushings yearly though or they'll wear out or squeak. That is if you don't have grease fittings of course. I...
Yeah, definitely don't extend the harness. It took me 7 hours to solder and heat shrink all those wires. Not worth it.
A hole below the brake booster would have been so much easier. Eh... you learn though.
A few well placed naca ducts should let some air out if you place them right. I'd put them on the front fenders as close to the door as possible and run ducting from the rear of the engine bay to the ducts. I don't know how that would look, but it should be effective. The back half of the front...
Other than the OEM clutch disc, what clutch disc don't squeal on engagement?
I've got a 6 puck metallic disc (copper/ceramic) right now, and I'm getting tired of the squeal.
It seems to be worse in the supra than in either of my old FWD cars, probably because of the extra weight of this car...
