Nope, they are definately NOT hitting the housing.
I think before I bother taking the turbo out I'm going to do with MKIIINA said, check for some leaky IC piping. The pipes are in good shape, nice and supple. But if any of you saw my oil pan thread, well that rock I hit also put a bit of a...
Thanks for the vid
Yup that's pretty much what it sounds like. But I just don't get it, I has an ok amount of shaft play side to side and almost zero front to back. Like I said, it seems to be better than the one I might have to swap in. I dunno, I guess I'll just swap and see what happens :(
Ok, so I have a dilemma.
My car is making a really loud whine, seemingly from the turbo side of the car, in the engine bay. I doesn't make this sound when I rev the car or when I downshift and the rpms go up. It only seems to make the whine when it under load and starts to build boost...
It's snowing here too :)
I think it's a 10amp if I'm remembering the position of it on the fuse panel correctly. (probably not though)
EDIT: just get rid of the cigarette lighter and put in a push button start like I did :icon_razz
Alright, I kinda figured that it was a custom deal. I'm a bit of a do-it-yourself'er so I might have to see if I can get a hold of a tig welder and make something up.
Sawbladz - if I can find one that might be a good idea. do you have any idea how much bigger it is?
So here are the pics...
I was wondering if it would be worth getting. Also where I might be able to get one.
I hit a rock a while back and wound up with a gnarly dent in my oil pan. So if I have to change it out anyway I might as well upgrade.
I'll have to get a pic of it later to see if you guys think it...
Yeah I guess mine doesn't scrap either (not on my silver car) but you can see in this pic how it's tweaked out on the bottom. I haven't fixed it because I plan to shave it later on.
Thanks for the offer! It's actually not that big of a deal. This if the gauge cluster for my parts car, and FORTUNATELY I switched the covers yesterday (because mine was also cracked). So yeah, no biggy, I just thought it was kinda funny :)
Can't you just take a tape measure and measure from the inside of the fender to the outer lip? Subtract maybe an inch, that would give you the MAXIMUM width. Then you could drop a plumb line from the fender and measure to the rotor to find your offset to put the wheel as far outside or as far...
If it's a straight body with just a BHG then I would pay $900 pretty easy, but I would still try to talk him down by explaining the time, effort and $ it would take to fix it.
I got a decent 87 w/ 89k mi. on it for $1500. The paint was sprayed over with rattle can primer and it needed an AFM...
Even if they do fit what is the benefit? Different spring rate, better dampening, lower, what?
I don't know the difference, but to me it kinda seems like a step sideways.
I'm not really sure what constitutes starting a build thread but I figured I would start one and add to it as the small projects come and go. Unfortunately I don't have any HUGE projects (like turbo upgrades or fun stuff) lined up YET, but they will come eventually.
So anyway, these are some...
I've got the stock MKIV TT wheels on my car, they are 9.5" wide. If I had a choice I wouldn't go any skinnier than that. Personally when I get custom rims they will be 10.5"+.
I believe the offset on those is +37 and it looks good but I will probably be looking a +25-35 offset in the future...
