I think a 250 Ninja is probably the best starter bike. That being said I wouldn't pay any $ for one. I got a 92 FZR 600 (Yamaha) for $300. I spent more on my gear than I did on the bike. If you plan on keeping the bike at all I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 600. Just be smart.
