suspension and fender clearance with various widths and offsets

searched and turned up no answers so here it goes:

what is the stock clearance on either side of the stock wheels, especially inside between the wheel and suspension? i'm looking at various wheels and can do all the calcs, but i have no idea how much i can widen inwards without rubbing stuff, or how much i can widen outwards without having to roll fenders. stock sawblades are 7" / 225s and +37 offset. for example running something like an 8" / 235s +33 offset would extend 9mm farther into the inside of the wheel well. on the rears, is that acceptable? what about extending 2mm farther into the front wheel well?

what exactly is the wiggle room beyond stock available before rubbing either the outer fender or the inner suspension bits? if no exact numbers, what is a good number to stay under?

Can't you just take a tape measure and measure from the inside of the fender to the outer lip? Subtract maybe an inch, that would give you the MAXIMUM width. Then you could drop a plumb line from the fender and measure to the rotor to find your offset to put the wheel as far outside or as far inside as you like.

The front might be a bit trickier to leave room for clearance. Seems like if you wanted to you might be able to mock something up once you have an idea of what you want. That way you would know what would clear.

Don't know if any of that helps heh. Good luck!

already used that, its just i don't know what's acceptable as far as how much change. i know i can measure the amount of space while its sitting there parked, but do i need to do something about when the suspension compresses and what-not? seems like i need to know what my margin is for various changes in suspension geometry, which is why my original question was if there was some general amouunt you can afford to extend inwards into the wheel well.

On the inside of the rears, 9.5 inch 50 offset MKIV rims with 275's leave a little less than 1/2 inch clearance from the strut, which is the first point you will contact if you go too far inside. The tire is what would make contact first. There is no appreciable change in how close it gets through normal suspension movement, but just looking at it from the back, I would assume you would gain a small amount of clearance on compression. Tire choice will affect how close you can go with this, knowing that some brands of tires have a more square sidewall profile than others.

One of the 4 clearances down...
