Anyone know if the coolant channel the thermostat housing bolts onto is compatible through the MK3 model years (86.5 to 88 versus 89+) ?
The coolant sensors are different I do know that, but can I use a 91 coolant channel on my 87 ?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Is this thing functional? No cracks? I think I need it from years 86.5 to 88. I do want it. How much to ship to 15301? My car is an 87 Turbo. If you have the nuts and bolts I'll take those too. You can pm me if you want.
I had a coolant leak and found that BOTH bolts on my thermostat housing were loose and stripped. Old car (87) - many mechanics plus myself have loosened and tightened that for the past 10 years, so what do I expect?
I tried to fix this but there are other cracks on the unit. Is this part of...
All,
I bought a Koyo radiator for my MK3. What radiator cap do you recommend? The stock PSI is 13, but what about a Greddy one:
Greddy high-pressure radiator caps are OEM style radiator caps, which means they screw on just like the factory radiator caps. Not only does the metal GReddy...
Nice pic thanks. My fan shroud is making it tough for this install. Obviously because this rad was made for the 1JZ. Do you use the 7M fan shroud with the Koyo?
The intercooler is the very first thing you see whe you are in front of the car -- it looks like a tilted radiator. There are 2 ports on it where hoses are attached and one goes to the turbo and the other goes to your intake (pipe with 3000 on it). You need to follow those hoses and make sure...
One check is to put a piece of cardboard under your car while it is in idle and give it some gas. If you have a leak then you'll immediately know. If not, pop the hood - sometimes a coolant leak will splash around from the fan turning and again, you will know something is leaking. This...
OK guys to finish this thread out, I received an excellent email and picture from Larry_A. The red arrow points to the hole in question. Larry_A used an old cold start injector time switch to plug that hole (gold part in the picture). It's the sensor on the thermostat housing closest to the...
Some suggested to try using a spare water temperature sensor. I tried one and it began to thread and then stopped. It's not a fit.
I checked with Champion and Jeff Watson said a 94 Twin Turbo temperature detection switch would work. It's a bit overkill since that costs $65 new...
Thanks for the help guys. Yes, the only thing I've seen on 5 or 6 sites is a Koyo for the 1JZ, not the 7M. I got it off eBay for $320 + $40 shipping, so it was not that bad.
I checked and the web site said 1JZ, but it is compatible with the 7M with minimal mods. It was the only one listed for the MK3 Supra in most of the Internet listings.
Yes you are correct, it is for the hydro fan on the 1JZ.
And I forgot to ask: does anyone know the size of the fitting by...
All,
I purchased a Koyo 53mm Radiator, part number [KOYO-R0171]. Long story short, my previous radiator was an aftermarket one in which the stock oil cooler was removed and the 2 oil lines routed to the radiator.
I also just purchased an aftermarket oil cooler and hoses to connect these 2...
Do not take out the Idle Speed Control. If you do you will get a revving idle (go from 1500 RPM down to 500 and loop). This is not something to just take out. Read the TSRM.
Congrats. Just as a follow up:
1- What kind of turbo do you have?
2- Where did you get it rebuilt?
Good job, I don't know if I have the courage to use a torch as my engine and turbo had numerous oil leaks and oil is splashed everywhere. ;)
Toyota no longer sells new cylinder heads for the MK3 Supra. They discontinued them 2 years ago. You have to get this from Jarco or some other Japanese seller of shortblocks.
It's the machine shop that should decide this on a used engine. If this is going to be rebuilt/new engine, 2.0mm...
Do not use a blow torch.
Is this an upgraded turbo that actually uses the coolant lines? I had mine upgraded with Garrett internals and blocked off the coolant lines. It just used the oil lines.
Yes, I agree, call the shop that upgraded this.
I just installed my turbo -- if you are...
