    Throttle Body differences

What about the TPS - throttle position sensor? For example, does anyone know if an 87 TPS will fit on a 90 throttle body (assuming they are both manual cars)?

    Throttle Body differences

Can someone explain the throttle body year differences? I know the automatic and manual cars have different versions, but is there much difference in the 86.5 to 88 versus the 89+ throttle bodies? I would assume the TPS is different but I am not sure.

Difference between the 86-88 and 89+ coolant sensors

Yes thanks but like I said my 87 Turbo never had these, and my original 87 engine harness does not have the connections for them. My production date is September 86, 5 speed, Turbo. I wonder if I can sneak another question in here. Can someone explain the throttle body year differences? I...

Difference between the 86-88 and 89+ coolant sensors

Thanks. I found out that my 87 Turbo does not have the auxiliary fan switch sensor and the a/c fan switch sensor that newer MK3 models have.

    yellow connector inside glovebox

Anyone with an 88 or 89 Supra can help me with this. Anyone have any idea what the 2 wire yellow connector inside the glovebox connects to? I am installing an 88/89 harness and ECU into my 87 Supra. My 87 Turbo's engine harness did not have this. However it is on this new harness (MK3...

Difference between the 86-88 and 89+ coolant sensors

Hello, Anyone know the difference between the 86.5 to 88 coolant sensors and the 89+ ones? I think the newer MK3 Supras (89+) have 2 additional sensors? Background: I have an 87 turbo. I needed a new engine harness so I purchased one from Champion Toyota. The harness was for an 88...

    Starting issue

Oh man - some of them I threw away. AFM electronics both gone. I have the CPS electronics (3) and the EGR valve (5) - just let me know who or pm me all the info.

    Another "car wont start"

I had the same problem, bad CPS electronics. You just need a multimeter and check the TSRM on the Net here and you can check any part related to starting. The guys here are correct about the CPS wiring on the harness side - it is just a matter of time. Just to let you know since you dropped...

    Starting issue

OK so what's the odds of this happening all at once: 1- Bad AFM electronics on the car 2- Bad spare AFM electronics I had in my garage 3- Bad CPS - Cam Position sensor electronics 4- Bad Igniter 5- Bad EGR valve 6 - Bad lower intercooler hose and clamp 7- End of the Negative battery...

    Starting issue

Yea I thought that was the answer. Pretty easy. Take two 1.5 volt batteries in series = 3 volts. Connect positive to negative on the batteries. When connecting your batteries in Series you are doubling the voltage while maintaining the same capacity. When connecting in Parallel you...

    Starting issue

The CPS I have in there passed the TSRM tests, so should be a non-issue. I am going to test the plugs, wires, ignition coils and the igniter next.

    Starting issue

I have been having starting troubles. I had a bad AFM electronics box and a bad CPS (failed one out of the 3 Ohm tests). I replaced both with working units. The spark plugs and wires only have 1,000 miles on them. The 3 coil packs are brand new and the coil pack ground wire is brand new and...

    Help me with my rebuild

Thanks. I agree. A machine shop can tell me what I need. Car has 128,000 miles, new turbo and a mechanic who worked on the car recommended a rebuild. I know the engine will not last long under the stress of the new turbo. I use Champion for OEM parts. Horsepower Freaks has a lot of parts...

    Help me with my rebuild

The car is in nice shape, but I really can't say if the crank needs ground or not. Can I purchase these things now like the main and rod bearings without the car being inspected by a machine shop or would it be risky and may end up being a waste of money if I need to purchase a different size...

    Stalling Supra

Open the hood and locate the diagnostic connector. Is it next to the battery. You will want to connect terminals E1 and TE1. I used a big paper clip, which I leave in the back of my car, and it is actually 'sprung' against the connector lid to add some pressure for a better connection...

    Stalling Supra

When you move your car and the speedo does not work then that's your speedo cable most likely. You need to access the TSRM and read how to get the codes. Do you have a Super Monitor? If you do then it will be very easy. If not then you have to count the Check Engine Light blinks. Link...

    AFM electronics

So I start my car and get codes 11 and 31. The code 11 was from my battery being dead, so I charged my battery, took out the EFI fuse and reset the codes. Code 31 = AFM. OK so then I check the AFM black box electronics (both my stock Supra one and the Lexus one from a 94 SC400). Well ends...

87 Turbo coolant channel vs 89+

I noticed the coolant sensors are different from pre-89 and 89+, so the threads must be different too? There can be up to 4 different varieties then: Turbo 86.5 to 88 Non Turbo 86.5 to 88 Turbo 89+ Non Turbo 89+ I am going to call Champion Toyota and find out
