Changing to the 87 grade would not have caused it to stop running. CRE runs 85 octane in his with no problems.
Are you getting any codes? Did it just quit, or was it a gradual thing?
Sounds like your dashpot needs adjusted. It's in the TSRM under the emissions control systems. There's also a little filter on the end of the vac hose that needs to be cleaned sometimes, just has a little fiber filter inside.
Well I guess this is good news. You mean I got to tear all that shit out and rewire again:nono:
OK, since you ragged on the other noobie in the other thread, :) and you know what a noob I am with computers and shit, any problems you would expect me to have doing this, or do I need further...
Now, now, don't get your panities all twisted :)
I'd check your cam gears, easy to pull the front cover and the distributor cap to check some simple things too.
It could be off still. If the cams are off it won't run right, since you didn't put a light on it from the start, your base timing is probably off, which it could run ok some of the time, and like shit others. I can't believe you have rebuilt the motor and havn't put a light on it. And you...
Really does sound like a timing problem. Have you had a light on it, and have you checked your cam gears to make sure they are lined up? A lot of people do not rotate the motor a couple of times after installing the timing belt, and then re-adjust if necessary. While you're doing all that check...
Also check your pulleys to see if they are OK. You could have one with a nick or something chewing up the belt. IJ is right about the brace it is left off sometimes by PO's and can cause not only the belt to go but also the pump.
