50 fuckin dollars???? if you had brought that to the machine shop i work at they would have done it while you waited and not even charged you cause that is easy shit. seriously thats nutts.
hell you could have hit it on a big belt sander and been fine!!!!
well ive been working on more parts for my turbo swap...
before:
after:
i broke a bolt off in the thermo houseing so that took me a bit to get out.
i love the look of bead blasted and tumbled aluminum
also....my turbo block is finished....just needs new freeze plugs...
No it's supposed to have play....your transmission and motor need to be able to flex together so the trans is a bit loose...I installed a new transmount and thought it would tighten things up but it wobbled the same as the old mount!
yes n/a heads are the same accept the cams which can be swaped between the two....yes the oven will anneal the head but if they cool the head down properly then it will actually regain its strength....usually its cheaper to find another head...
that isnt actually a nut....its the retainer so if the rubber fails the transmission wont fall out and go sparkling down the road..kinda like how the motor mounts are set up if the rubber rots away the motor will rock side to side but wont fall out.
It's like a 3mm version of the 1.4mm.....
Just so you know...you determine headgasket thickness only by how much metal you removed from the block and head...picking a random thickness is retarded and can ruin your motor in the long run....you are to keep the stock piston to head clearance...
Oops yeah they are not tool steel...my bad...I was thinking of the coils I have here at work!
Either way a standard helicoil shouldn't unravel easily!!! They are strong as hell! I don't know what brand coils y'all are useing but the helicoil kit here becide me I need pliars to deform them...
Then it wasn't a helicoil!! Helicoils can't unravel cause they are hardened tool steel they will snap before then uncoil! Sounds like it was the aluminum threads themselves came out with the studs....
And when doing helicoils please for the love of god take the head to a machine shop and...
