that tranny nut

whats that tranny nut/bolt in the middle of the tranny crossmember.
its like 1 3/8 i dunno somthing big.
my question is mine was loose(by finger), whats it for.
i kinda fiddled with it, but didn't realy f*** with it.
for what... lash ect??

that isnt actually a nut....its the retainer so if the rubber fails the transmission wont fall out and go sparkling down the road..kinda like how the motor mounts are set up if the rubber rots away the motor will rock side to side but wont fall out.

No it's supposed to have play....your transmission and motor need to be able to flex together so the trans is a bit loose...I installed a new transmount and thought it would tighten things up but it wobbled the same as the old mount!

That sounds right to me! I can lift my trans up about .5" so we have about the same play..

Yep, it's basicly a bumpstop to stop the mount from moving far enough to rip itself apart. IIRC it wasn't on all versions either...

lol no chance. this was in summer when I did my pan(turbo drain) and oil pump. cars in vancouver now.
