I bought a set of slotted rotors last year and have just gotten around to installing them. My question concerns the rust that could possibly form on the rotor hats. I would like to know if Brembo rotors come with a zinc or similar coating that prevents such corrosion from occuring. It would...
Ok...time to start saving for a rebuild. I just find it so frustrating because the car has never ran better/pulled harder. If I couldn't see the smoke I would be happy as a pig in shit. lol I think I will also factor in replacing the turbo...this time with a 57 trim rebuild.
I find it odd that the oil didn't run downhill and end up on 5 and 6. When my valve covers gaskets were screwed, 5 and 6 were soaked and the rest were fine.
I understand what he said about the wet compression test and I should have done it but I forgot. However, if adding the oil didn't affect the results then the problem would be with the head. Since I feel that there shouldn't be any problems with my head, I think that this test proves my rings...
Compression test results.

I forgot to put oil in the cylinders to retest but I don't think that should be necessary because this head was fully rebuilt last spring when the HG was done.
Also, I...
I hope its my turbo because I have experience changing those (have it down to 3 hrs with stock oil lines) and it doesn't require any labour costs. The turbo on the car is a stock replacement that I bought for $150 but it didn't have much/any play when I got it but I don't know it's history...
That's just it..I'm a little worried about what they will find and if I can afford it at the time. Being in school sucks that way. If I knew it would just be rings and bearings and I could find a decent price I would do it for sure. It's just the "what if" factor that concerns me.
Just took the car for a drive...noticed oil burning. When I would decellerate to a stop light I would leave it in gear and let off from ~3500 rpm to 2000 rpm. Doing this would cause the car to billow blue smoke. It is my understanding that this is the result of worn piston rings (220,000km)...
I think that would help it to look better but if you do that you encounter more problems. As you increase the size of the spacer, there are greater shearing forces put on the lugs themselves. Spacers are also hard on your wheel bearings. It is really up to you but I felt I could live with the...
I have a set of 8mm spacers on the front wheels. I was able to keep the stock wheel studs and it helped with the sunken in look of the Mk4 wheels. These would look better if they were out another 10mm but then you would need extended the studs.
This is the best pic I have without taking one...
I'm lovin' the Leslie Nielsen reference. That was from Airplane right?
To the original poster...I wish you asked this question after my exams are done. I have a Speed Source pipe I'm about to sell but I am in exams and the pipe is on the car, therefore I have no time to take it off. The...
My first time to the track ever in a stock turbo 5 speed I ran a 15.5 at 89 I beleive. The sixty foot was a 2.3 or 2.4. I only made the one pass.
I would imagine you will be in the low 16's and if you stay there all night you will get into the 15's. Good luck and have fun...that's why your...
I just bought a set of traction arms off ebay for 250 CDN including shipping. After a week or so they show up and tell me I owe 82.79 in border fees and delivery. Is it just me or is that a little much?
I've paid border fees before but they have never exceeded $20 or so. Is there anyone I...
You don't know the half of it.:3d_frown: In my own driveway we have two more that were out at the moment. An older Grand Prix and my GF's sunfire. The benefit of these cars being everywhere is that they are also in the junkyards. Lots of parts when the need arises.
**EDIT** Also, this is...
