    Bought a year round car

I hope the engine is reliable and with what I have heard/read it should be decent. I am aware of the manifold issues because a friends parents had a Buick with that issue. I plan to leave it stock or possibly add an intake (blower whine is cool). I would have prefered to have a manual but...

    Bought a year round car

LOL. nope...not many cars have a longer hood than a Supra. The car is longer over all. Seems like almost a foot longer.

    Bought a year round car

ya it's not bad. I was impressed when I first drove it. It should run low 15's stock. The person that I bought it from seemed very particular about his stuff and the car shows it. It has very few flaws and all of them are easy to fix. It takes a little getting used to because of its...

    Bought a year round car

I needed a vehicle to get to and from school in the winter and to work in the summer. I feel bad piling all the miles on my Supra and I don't think it would remain reliable if I used it as a daily. So... 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Teal Green on black leather, Heads Up Display, polished 16"...

    Estimate my repair bill :biglaugh:

I just took the car in the get an estimate for replacing my cam-locks and bushings in the front and rear. Everything is seized and I don't have the time/tools to do this job myself. (at school for summer semester) So how bad do you think I am going to get raped?:biglaugh: This is for all...

wheel spacers for the mk4 wheels

I have 8mm spacers for my wheels and I don't have extended wheel studs. I have 8 turns on the lug nut which I read was enough.

    No heat

You guys are awesome. I went out and looked at my VSV on the bottom of the intake manifold. I guess the old vacuum lines finally gave up because there was a huge crack in one. When I reached to touch it, it fell apart. I will report back if it is fixed tomorrow...it was snowing...

    No heat

I just got my car out of storage and, after finally getting the starter changed, I took it for an extended drive on a cool day. To my dismay I turned on the heat and nothing but cold air came out. It has no other symptoms. My heat gauge reads normal and all the fans work properly. I wish I...

You thoughts on traction arms lipp or a1?

I have heard that poly bushings can squeak. Would this be true in this application as well? I am about to buy some LIPP traction arms but I can't deciede on which bushings. I like the idea of the stiffer poly but I won't tolerate any squeaking.

    BHG woes

Have you given any consideration into a crank scraper? If you are doing all that to the bottom end I would definately look into a Teflon scraper to maximize your potential.

Installed starter, need help putting back together

Today I pulled the starter and will be leaving for Parts Source soon. What a difference experience makes. I got it off and in my hand in under 1.5 hrs. Will update later if I get it installed and running. **crosses fingers** UPDATE: New starter in, some wiring repaired, car now runs. I...

Installed starter, need help putting back together

I didn't take off the intake manifold. I removed some stuff off the bottom of the upper manifold so I could get a better angle on the extensions. This was easier than going from the bottom because I am at school so I don't have access to our hoist.

    Should I drive it???

Burp your system, that would get rid of the waterfall if you don't have a BHG. If a mechanic checked the system I would beleive him.

Installed starter, need help putting back together

You called it. I will do this from now on. I hope to have the new starter by Tuesday and will report back then if a new starter fixed the problem.

Installed starter, need help putting back together

I'm trying to avoid taking the starter back off. It is difficult to do so due to limited tools and a sloped driveway. I'm sure it wouldnt take me as long as it did the first time but I still don't wanna jump in and rip it out of there. I also would like to think that this new starter should...

Installed starter, need help putting back together

By jumping the wires all that would happen is the solenoid would pop and the starter would attempt to start? But by turning the key all of that happens anyways. Is there anything that jumping the starter bypasses that could cause the starter gear not to engage?
