We need a bit more details to diagnose the problem better, i just replaced the fuel filter in a blazer and it was experiencing problems "similar" to what you described. The fuel filter was the problem area.
Weld a bung on the oil pan for the return, and tap the OP sending unit with a T fitting for the feed. Its much easier and i had NO problems with my old set up what so ever
Make sure its comming from the pan, as said before there are several places it could be comming from and the pan is at the bottom of the motor...
Leaky cam position sensor?
When the car is running, see if you can go to autozone or whoever and grab a coolant burping bucket. Use that, and when you do, see if any small air bubbles are comming out of the cooling system....
Fuel cut is generally around 12-13 PSI. You can run 10PSI safely on your motor, and youll feel quite a difference from the stock 7 or so.
I ran 12 PSI on a stock motor with a MHG/ARP's an exhaust system and intake.
