If the knock sensor is broken the ECU will notice this and retard the timing in order to keep the motor safe. This will cause a noticeable performance hit, but no direct damage to anything.
Yeah, check out the specs in the TSRM for our gauge for a good laugh. It's seriously just an "ok light". Either everything is ok or you're in trouble. :)
That's a lot of codes, did it take 10 minutes to read them all? :)
22 will not immediately harm the car, it's safe to drive around but the car will run poorly.
51 you need to check your TPS via the TSRM with a ohmmeter and feeler gauge.
Clear the codes as well just to make sure they aren't...
I got about 5 years of service on my Tokico HP's before I sold them. As far as I know they are still working great on the new owners car. The bump stops theory could be sound, I bought brand new silicone stops when I first installed them.
Unfortunately the stock temperature gauge was built to be inaccurate and slow, probably to keep worrysome owners from freaking out everytime the gauge moved. As such you can't get any kind of decent reading off the stock gauge. If it moves around a lot then you definitely have a problem, but...
You'll still get car grease and oil transfers, just no human oils. Best thing to do is just keep the engine bay clean and clean all parts as you remove them. Most of the exhaust wraps will smoke regardless. It doesn't hurt anything except your pride.
Test pipe is definitely worth it IMO. If you gut the cat you get a lot of turbulance so I'd recommend shoving a 2.5" pipe in there if you do. You might have to grind the inside lip of the cat just a little bit to get that pipe in but it will fit.
Study the intake plenum design, you'll see that EGR is effectively only fed to cylinder 5 and 6. There may be a little that reachs 3 and 4, but I doubt any get to 1 and 2.
If you live in a state with emissions testings you're going to want to leave it on. It doesn't effect performance or...
Anytime you work on the motor you leave greasy or just human oils on your turbo/manifold. That will cause a some smoke to appear once the exhaust heats up. Exhaust wrap is notorious for doing this as well. When I first installed wrap on my N/A's Pacesetter header it smoked like someone threw...
Carbon fiber driveshaft (hey you said money was no object), rebuild stock differential personally I'm not that impressed with the JZA70 diff, rebuilt stock tranny. The MA70 drivetrain is quite stout unless you're looking to run sub 11s. I've seen a few people have their tranny gears treated...
It's also a good idea to replace those bolts every 5-10 years as cheap insurance. They tend to get corroded and eaten up after years of service. Personally I only use loctite in very few select locations, and that housing isn't one of them. If you've got decently clean threads and you don't...
A Supra is a well built car. Granted the HG is a design defficiency, but it is one that can be fixed. There are lots of cars out there with design flaws that are near impossible to fix. Also there are a lot of things we just take for granted on the Supra. Fully adjustable suspension, the...
Fidanza apparently has quality control issues. Myself and another close friend both have their flywheels for 20k+ miles with no troubles at all. Another friend of mine is having problems with the clearances being incorrect, making the clutch hard to disengage. I'd still buy another one and...
