If the oil system has sat, or has open ports to atmosphere, all the oil will drain back to the pan. So yes, what you saw was normal. Typically when priming a turbo, after pulling the efi fuse, you'll crank the car 5-8 times before seeing propper oil flow.
Careful with that. Most hx35's are t3 flanged. Also, you'll never control the Holset with an internal wastegate. External wastegate is mandatory. Also, you'll need oil lines, and a power steering relocation kit.
Take that snap ring off of the little aluminum plate on the front of the bearing housing. Remove the front seal plate. Remove guts. Push turbine shaft out the back of the bearing housing.
I never got dyno numbers. Keep this thread going. I know there are a couple people out there that can attest to this thread. Also, Wes Beech I think has dyno numbers....
If the turbo is under warranty, send it back so the company can see what happened. If its not under warranty, tear that thing completely down and show us what the bearings like.
Nothing positive about it, unless you really HAVE TO HAVE that turbocharger on your car.
Positive is quicker spool and response if you have a t4 divided housing on a divided manifold.

You said swap. You need to make sure that - if working with a 1j or 2j - that you are using either A.) Vacuum check valves or B.) A vacuum module from a TURBOCHARGED engine on the power steering assist.
