Well I'm looking around at turbo setups for my 7mgte (will someday go on an NA-t 2jz) and I've just been wanting to see the kind of power they make on the two motors. While it's on the 7m I don't plan to push it past 400 to the wheels but on the 2j setup I would like closer to 500.

Also is the hx35 capable of these power levels at lower boost? I don't think I'll be running race gas or methanol so I won't be going over 18psi.

Some one just need to chime in right about now and say "look guys, for shits a giggles I put a hx35 on a 1jz, 7m and 2jz. Dyno'ed them and found these numbers with these mods"

Then we would be talkin!

The only graph I've ever seen with an hx35 was from a friend of a friends cummins. Made like 540 on 46ish psi. Can a 3.0l pull off anywhere near those numbers with less than half the boost pressure?

But, I would assume this dyno graph read over 1000 ftlb of torque. You can not compare a diesel engine with a gasoline engine, other then they burn a fuel and produce exhaust and a power output.

976tq I believe lol. Yea I know they can't be compared like that, I just wondered if it takes a 5.9l inline6 till 46psi to make that power with that turbo, how half the boost could put our motors anywhere close to the same. But I think I get it.

What I really wonder now is if these turbos run 30+psi stock wouldn't it be detrimental to the turbos health to run it at half that? I thought it was bad to run a turbo below it's efficiency range...

Wes Beech has a Holset housing but I believe it's got Garret guts. I did quite a bit of hunting for info on these turbos a few years back to no avail. Quite a few people have run them but no one seems to dyno them.

I've got a graph from last July at 700ft elevation. It was with the pre-1998.5 8-blade version of the HX-35. Wasn't that great of a dyno day. My PCV system was toast and oil was pissing out my rear main seal. Was about 105*F as well and my Synapse Synchronic wastegate was a PIA/lazy to hold boost. (I will never purchase this wastegate ever again) It was done on a Dyno Dynamics thus add 18% to compare to a Mustang Dyno. Approximately 403rwhp on a Mustang Dyno. Once I had more time to play around with the wastegate's preload spring, full boost came on earlier. Also added exhaust wrap which seemed to help a 100 or so rpm.

Mods (back then):
Maft-Pro in speed density
550's
2.5" piping
28x11x3" (core) intercooler
Walbro w/ 12v mod
Weiscos
ARP rod bolts and head studs
Cometic 2mm
CM stage 2 clutch

I will have a holset hy35 dyno in the late spring early summer for everyone!! I plan to test the limits of the lil hy35 probably around 25-26 psi so it still is efficient I'm hoping for high 400s to the wheels. Does anybody have any hy35 dyno's on here? post em up guys!

I've been waiting myself. Now I'm aiming at a mp t61 tho since I havnt been able to find any examples of how the hx35/40 react on our motors.

I'm lookin for pretty good response for a street car and I fear lag with a diesel turbo....

It's a turbo. As long as the size of it is matched with your engine and hp it will "react" just fine.
