alright well i bought a used 60-1 trim CT. Supposidly it sat on a shelf for 2 years after coming of the car good. When i got it i installed it and primed it with oil. After a min or so of running it started to smoke bad. Was white smoke (oil leaking on exhaust side). So i oredered a rebuild kit and rebuilt the turbo myself. The turbo had little shaft play which seems about normal so i just wanted to put new seals in it. After rebuild the turbo i put it back on the car. started it up and a few min later it was smoking just as bad as before.
I pulled the turbo off again figureing i messed something up when i was putting it back together. When i pulled it appart this time i noticed oil in intake side aswell. so i knew i did something wrong. The front seal was not in the second grove of the retainer and i did not have the gap 180 from the drain side of the housing. so i fixed that problem. I measured the bearings that were in the turbo and they were little larger outside diameter so i put the old bearings back in figureing it was rebuilt before and bored out for oversized bearings. So i thought the extra shaft play could have caused the oil leaking out turbine side. So i reassembled everything and just put it on the car and started it up to find it still smokes just as bad as it did when i got it ...
The bore in the center section didnt seems scored or messed up at all, and the ring seals are in the housings straight and not bent or twisted, with the gap at the top of the housing 180 from the drain.
Anyone got any tips? I realize i could send this to someone to rebuild it for me but that is 3-400$$, and not really necissary for just replacing seals. I have two stock CT-26s i could take one appart and use that center section if i have to..
