I'll pulling my engine friday if you want to come over and join the partayyyy.

Hey! I've been work my butt off bro! Just because waiting on parts over and over, having to take it to the machine shop like 3 times, and being held back by money, I'm working as fast as I can!!! At least it won't take as long as reign's build :evil2:

I was going to get more done yesterday, but after the centralia meet, and basically not sleeping the night before, I was beat! But I did get all my pistons in :)

And abit more progress!

I noticed that the new spring for the oil pump relief (i got two, the relief in the oil filter adaptor has the same p/n for the spring), is quite abit shorter than the original one I took out of the pump... anyone know anything about this? I double checked the p/n...

Well, I went back to the original spring for the oil pump!

Yesterday I scrubbed the oil pan for at least an hour and a half with a steel brush, removing almost all of the rust, i lost patience and there was still abit here and there... but it was damn close to perfect, i painted black, with duplicolor high heat engine enamel.

I sealed up the oil pan... hope I used enough gasket maker, i made a small bead on the block, bolted it up, looked back at the tsrm, 'doh! Pan back off, applied a slightly more generous bead on the pan this time! Only went on the insde of the bolt holes, didn't circle the outside, fastened and torqued the pan down, and most of the outside had a bit of excess, theres a few spots where you can't see any gasket maker on the outside, but I'm pretty sure it's ok

lol what a rediculously long explanation on putting on a oil pan!

Was going to take pictures, but camera started acting up, i thought it was broken but the batteries were just low and the camera didn't detect it

^^ Yeah thats the conclusion that IJ. came up with, strange that I got two of the same P/N and they're both the wrong size :icon_conf

Jdub, it was already shimmed from awhile ago during this build, it's about 5-6mm :)

Forgot to add I also drilled out the J-Tube, real exciting, I know :biglaugh:
More progress and pictures later today!

Made abit more progress today, re-measured all the valve clearances, but by the time I was done, the toyota parts department was closed, so tomorrow I'll go there and swap out some shims, and get one new one that was missing from when the head first got rebuilt :3d_frown:

Once the headwork is done tomorrow, The head will go on, as well as the rest of the timing, and whatever else I have time for until I discover another part I'm missing!

Got abit more done today, got the head installed and torqued down, a few other small things here and there, I'm waiting on some shims from toyota that I'll get on saturday so that I can put the cams back in, and do the rest of the timing assembly!

Soo many little things it always adds up so quick, I've spent so much money already and I still have so much more for my ultimate goal

Ordered a lipp stainless spark plug valley gasket, as well as stainless allen head hardware for the valve covers, and a Hosetechniques vacuum hose kit, in glossy black, none of that ricey bs :biglaugh:

Also made another toyota order for some small things here and there, gonna have to track down a few parts from Tubbie probably, trying to figure out everything I might be missing, and every time I find (more like don't find) something else... Cha Ching!!

Made a lot of progress today! Got the 3 shims I was waiting on from toyota, so all my valve clearances are taken care of, cams are in and all torqued up, sealed up, finished the timing assembly, did a full 360 to ensure it wasn't going to skip a tooth :)

Exhaust on, turbo on, mostly just accessories, oil, fuel, water, and vacuum plumbing, then wiring... who am I joking still a LOT to do!

Also, the EPC doesn't really show very well where the Aux. air pipe is mounted, i think it goes here?

What, my pictures aren't good enough for you guys? All this progress and not a single comment... sheesh, tough crowd! :biglaugh:

Made a tiny bit of progress the other night, but not really worth taking time for more pictures.

That toyota order i spoke of, suddenly turned into a quite a large order, just about every hose, belt, or hardware i remember I'm missing or want to replace! Unfortunitely my parts guy, Mark, is on vacation for a few more days, I feel sorry for him when he gets back and sees my order lol!

I'm gonna wash my DD supe today, we're finally getting some nice weather! Also cleaned the interior the other day (black magic > armor all), maybe I'll post pics of that later

Someone wasn't paying attention in class :biglaugh:

I'm waiting on the toyota order to get more done, Mark is back in town, and is working on filling it out, I don't expect to get this order quickly (but do hope!), I'm sure there are backordered parts, we'll see If I can get some JDM Tyte Overnight parts from Japan!
