1JZ and 2JZ pans are the same part numbers. You can use a 1JZ rear sump on a 2JZ no problem. This is what I do.
I have an extra rear-sump pan, but I don't want to ship it to jersey.
If you picture your piston movnig up and down, it's obviously experiencing acceleration forces as it's being pushed up and down.
Now picture two motors, one with 10mm of stroke, one with 20mm of stroke, both spinning at 1000rpm. Both pistons are moving up and down 1000 times per minute...
Seams can tear apart, cheap (thin) metal can rust through, sound absorbing material can deteriorate to the point where it no longer muffles, just resonates and sounds like shit.
V160 bellhousing is part of the transmission itself, it's non-removable. This is why wou NEVER see them for sale.
You might be able to use a GE bellhousing, and weld it on to the transmission. It would be a little expensive to do properly, but a new V160 would probably be more.
Just change them while you have it apart. It's cheap to do. I've had stock ones back out on me after several uses, and it's not fun to fix with the motor in the car.
I hear you about the lettering. I got the letters stitched in my current set, and it looks hot. I would also likely do a Toyota and/or a Supra logo in the headrest in something that doesn't stand out too much.
Yes, I would do the rear seats as well, possibly the door panels too.
I got crankwalk and siezed my 1JZ :(
I also spent all of the effort turboing and swapping in a motor into a MKI, only to find out it was missing rod bearings.
It did look like that when they were done. They were horrible. I actually got a 2nd installer come out, and fix the dish installation, as they pointed it at a tree.
After moving into the house some 5 years ago, one of the few things that I really haven't dealt with is the mess of cables in the work room. This originally serviced 8 cable outlets around the house, but has since been mostly upgraded to satellite.
Here's the mess that was near the electrical...
I have a mint set of factory Recaros in my Supra right now, but I was thinking today, they would look bad-ass if I re-did them in leather to match the shadow gray dash pad.
Should I leave them the way they are, or re-finish them in leather?
Better yet, trade them to a local supra member...
you can fit anything up to a 12x24x4" in there without removing anything.
9x24x3" is a good size I've found.
I run a 12x24x4, but it hangs low because I have some HUGE end tanks on it.
