Yeah it's a cap. Get one from a dealer, the one's you get at AZ and other places don't have reinforcing in them and they don't hold up. I made a cap with 1/2" copper pipe/cap and a short piece of hose.

Well if you want to do it right it should be taken to a machine shop that can size the bearings for you among other things, rings gapped, etc. and I'd have them put the bottom end together.

When you put it back in, did you line up all the timing marks? crank, cam gears, #1 piston on TDC, and the rotor pointing at the #1 wire? That would get it close enough to start. Then you have to time it with a light and the jumper wire as per TSRM. Have you set your TPS according to the manual...

Do you have the 3 ground wires connected to the intake manifold, they are sometimes connected to the started by mistake and it will not start without them.

It sounds like timing, either cam timing or static timing, I think that's what it's called, timing it with a light and with the jumper wire.

I went thru 2 JDM motors that were in sad shape, warranty on those usually means they will ship you another if the motor has problems. Finally rebuilt the original motor after changing out the 2 JDMs. Ended up getting part of my money back with a spare parts motor. You should tear a JDM...

I'd say depends on how healthy the motor is on the octane, compression ratio, etc., on what octane you can run without pinging. Cre was actually running 85 octane. From what I've read the lower octane will burn better then the higher octane.

How much what? Timing, if you run 15 BTDC run premium gas. MSD wires about 5 years ago were 80 bucks. :)

I'd put a timing light on it to make sure, only way to check it for sure. It would be close with lining up the marks but it could still be off quite a bit. You can get a set of MSD at Autozone or someplace like that.
