All depends on the finished bore size, but yep low 20's is about right for 500+, under that stick to 4/5 per inch of bore.
Stock Bore would be 14 thou top and 17 thou 2nd.
You want 4 thou per inch top and 5 thou per inch 2nd, if it's going to make good power I'd add a couple of thou to the total or you're going to nip it up first hard run.
Piston to bore depends on the piston construction/material but I tend to go tight and coat the skirts.
A big washer and the Tensioner bolt will do, it's a HUGE fine Pitch bolt and will pull the cylinder if overtightened.... :(
(ask how I found this out...)
Some guys have set the cover up in a Mill and taken it down the the block height, I'd go a thou or 2 under just to be safe.
Bigger issue is having the tensioner bolted on while boring/honing as it pulls #1 cylinder half a thou @ 36ft/lbs.
I tend to "Walk Softly and carry a Big Stick" ;)
I learnt early on to never underestimate as there are some stupid fast sleepers out there!
Also I don't care what it is if someone has done a good job they get my respect.
Problem with that approach is there's ALWAYS someone Faster than you no matter what they drive, point in case if you tried that with my car which "looks" like a stock Tradesmans vehicle I'd hand your ass to you and I'd own your car... ;)
I had 25K+ in my MoTeC system so agreed 1>4K is fine, what's a half decent rebuild worth to you, a crap management system WILL make you find this out..
Just checked e-bay LOTS of cheap stuff available out of China now...
Just have to ID the thread diameter and pitch, might be an option as it's just cleaning up the thread no9t cutting it from scratch.
