Well the engine is mostly back together, with only 2 things holding me up. I'm sure somebody knows where this fitting goes, and the where the hose ends connect up at. Also the little harness in the pic, I'm stuck on that one too.

Worked all day getting the head off, to no surprise the headgasket looked horrible. Re-assembly commences tomorrow after I get some rest. Here is a couple pics :

Yes it's not rocket surgery, just seems that way because I am new at this. What kills me is all the hoses and wires that go here and there, and everything is hard to get to. The compressor wheel feels really solid, no play in or out, and no suspicious wiggling of any sort....and spins freely with no noise. thnx Kevin, I do feel a little overwhelmed.

So you think the turbo is ok ?... I am worried because there is a awful lot of oil/black junk in the intake manifold. My neighbor who is a mechanic, says the seals in the turbo are most likely bad.

LOL yea my mistake, turbo is still mounted, but took the hose off and grabbed a mirror...looks kinda black to me.

took both pipes coming from the IC off. The one coming from the bottom of the IC is dry, the other one was wet, and dripped what was black and runny for a couple seconds.

Ok got the upper mani off. It was the cold start injector harness still plugged in that was holding me up...lol I feel like a idiot. Anyway, found oil deposits in the upper mani, and the stem that sticks up into it is caked with it. Correct me if i am wrong...but does'nt that mean the seals on...

upper, I know its late, and ty for your help.. I got a few more things removed on the turbo side, just the mounting brackets left, and that hard to get to line directly under the turbo that runs to the block.. but I know how to get that off, already changed the exhaust manifold gasket last...

Just a quick update... currently baffled trying to get the intake manifold, all the bolts are loose that I can find, harnesses unplugged, coil pack off, hoses disconnected, but the manifold is determined to stay put. I dunno, beginning to wonder if I can do this job or not, and there...

Ok so got my new HG in and went to TSRM and printed out the steps for removal. Everything going OK up until I got to the cps. I have the bolts, and cover off, and naturally the cps spins left/right freely,...but I can't get it off. The instructions only say to "remove CPS sensor". So what am I...

Yea if it were 2jz, I would'nt be in this mess lol. It is humid here in Louisiana, but I have the other symptons that suggest the BHG, so I'm pretty much screwed. I just might do a full build and turbo, or at least a upgraded CT to maybe a 57 trim, depends on the money thing. I'll know more...
