If you can do all those mods, you can add a #194 bulb to 12V and the other end to the MIL input to the ECU. Then you can read codes and solve your problem.
Its really hard to convey the brightness of stop lights. I tried taking a photo during the day but, the lights looks really dim, dimmer than they are (see below) , while at night they look brighter than they are. Cameras don't have the dynamic range that our eyes do.
Stops off left, on right.
This looks brighter than it is. There is a definite hot area at the top of the lens too. I'll take another in daylight which may look more like real life.
These Philips 1157LED lamps arrived. I've installed them and they provide about the same intensity as the stock bulbs, despite having no light coming straight out of the top of the bulb. They use a lot less energy which is the main draw. I haven't yet seen if the bulb failure lamp comes on, and...
RS24 is just another blend that would not be recommended. The problem is the gases leak at different rates and you end up after a few years with gas ratios that don't properly carry the oil throughout the systems and the compressor fails. With butane and isopentane this one can also become...
I didn't bend the socket, it was left as is as shown in the third photo.
The tail lights may not work out as well as the backups. You can see in the third photo that the tails are vertical in the holder, and these LED lights are not designed to radiate much light end on. I will probably still...
Anyone who has replaced any Supra bulbs with LEDs knows how crappy the aftermarket LED bulb market is. I'd say at least half of the bulbs on Ebay are outright junk that won't last a day of use. Well, that's all changed because a tier 1 supplier (Philips) has released a line of LED bulbs that...
I'll bet its knock sensor is not nearly as good as the one in the stock ecu. A typical ecu project for a production engine family is a multi-million dollar effort. GM spent $500M on a powertrain test facility alone.
There is no obd hiding in any 7M ecu I have looked at. The California ecus are the most advanced, with misfire detection in the later models, but the interface I am referring to is proprietary, and never intended to be a replacement for obd.
To me it seems straightforward. Replace the head, transfer over any titanium springs or other goodies in the old one, and carry on. The rest of the engine is fine. Should be no more than a few k if someone is paid to do it, or much less for DIY. To swap to a different engine family, that's an...
