The has two igniters, one for each bank, the tach signal is only pulled from one bank, 4 cylinders. The Celica tach motor should work with that signal.
I think the only "bolt on" TB would be from a Turbo-A car, but I can't see it doing much unless the rest of the intake manifold is "upgraded" too. You could do port matching to your gaskets, that will help get some more air through it.
By the way, the 5 spoke wheels make the car look much...
I was able to get a few more things cleaned up on the car recently, I got a much shorter throttle cable which allowed me to put the "TRAC" cover on. Then I addressed my starter issue, the ol turnkey-click-no start syndrome. I rewired the temporary relay to be a more perniment fixture with a...
So my 89 lives on, ironically I guess would be a good work for it. I jumped on craigs list and found a 87 turbo car that was dissasembled with a horrid body kit on it, it had one white fender, and one white door, and a head from a junk yard I figured what are the chances. When I got to the guys...
Haha, I thought about one of them for a compound set up for my truck, but I dont think a 4.0 would ever spool that alone. The engine would idle and the turbine wouldnt turn, haha. :)
In my opinion I like the pre-89 more. The 89+ don't say 80's to me like the pre-89 ones do. But when you start doing wheels and body stuff, the 89+ are done so much that it's refreshing to see a modified pre-89 and that makes them look better.
I started to address the strange CEL blinking when its cranking. It would crank then fire one cylinder, then the CEL would turn off, then it would continue to crank until the CEL came back on (within a half second) and the engine fired again, rinse and repeat... So I checked the CPS, upon...
Thought id share, a friend of mine dropped a load of scrap metal off and saw this beast, its actually sitting on the block, the scrap yard pulled the oil pan off to get the rotating assembly out. Twin turbos, each facing the opposing direction, the inlets were a good 6-8 inches!! :aigo:
From what I have seen Pre-89 only had the condenser electric fan regardless of transmission. The 89+ have two, one that is controlled by a temp s/w on the thermostat housing, and the second for the condenser. I believe the top electric fan is the coolant temp controlled fan and the bottom is...
Started at the fuse box, checked fusible links and they were all good. So I went to the IGN switch plug, everything looked good. Then I took a peek at the back of the IGN switch and lo an behold a bad wire corroded and missing its insulated jacket, see photo, I have no idea how this happened...
