I too used the OEM rack bushings but I didnt modify the rack to the extend that they would fit 100%. I ended up clipping them parallel to the rack to get them to fit. What kind of adapter? Did you use both OEM inner and outer with the adapter between the rack and the inner? I used early 90's...

Update for me, slave cylinder just blew in my car last night... I have a spare unit but dam, have to pull the trans to replace it... I still plan to be down there with my car though!

NA-T on the 2JZ would probably be the most effective, other than that I like the 1UZ turbo idea. The hareness is basically the same, so its plug and play for the most part.
