Well that’s actually typical, although very dangerous, it’s typical. I have witnessed first hand what happens when the steel braided line sits its self on the unprotected power stud on the alternator. There was a small flame and two guys shaking their heads when it was out...
Yea I think they can make out for a good first car. For me it wasnt my first vehicle but it was my first car and it very enjoyable. As said before, they are big on maintenance and how you treat them, and for that asking price you could buy both a Supra and a turn key reliable daily driver as in...
Nice looking project, ignorance must have been bliss for the previous owner. The things done to that/ things not done to that car speak volumes about the previous owner.
Check out the for sale section, there are plenty of people that have parts cars.
Lextreme is still active, just low traffic. I'm not sure if Lex still offers his crate engines or his supercharger kit, but plenty of info is there. Check club lexus and lextreme for info and build threads of forced induction 1UZ-FE. Some of them are inspiring and others are good for information.
I had a similar problem, it got worse in the winter so I unbolted it and put a few stainless washers behind it to move the little tab out. Seems to be a good solution for now. But replacing the whole cable is the right way to go about it.
Yesterday I modified the stock mount for the Charcoal Canister and got it mounted and plumbed. I also unplugged my MAF and plugged it back in and the hesitations has seemed to diminished drastically, so I pulled it apart again today and cleaned the pins with a Emory board, I'm going to go see...
If you have the complete engine harness from the 89 then you will just need to swap all sensors and the wiring harnesses onto the 87 engine. Look up the TSRM and find the correct pins to bypass the Neutral Start Switch, same thing for the reverse lights. Other than that it will work out for...
Ok, looking at the EWD for the 87, the Manual Dash Harness has TWO wires coming from the Starter Relay. One goes to the Manual Engine Harness for the Starter, the Second stays in the Dash Harness and goes to the Circuit Opening Relay. The Automatic Dash Harness only has ONE wire coming from...
From what I have read its very hard to blow a head gasket with these engines and I have had no symptoms of a BHG. Thanks for the reply.
Yup, exactly, and ok! Thanks. :)
Well I have ran Lucas fuel treatment through it, but other than that I cant see my daily fuel having anything odd in...
Thanks for the reply, brakes should be going on within a month or so. From what I hear its a great upgrade and should have came like that from the factory.
Hi all, I have been having a odd ball hesitation when driving, I have replaced both coils, put a very good ground on the igniters, and have always ran premium 92 or 93 octane fuel and still had it. On this engine I put the NGK Iridium BKR6EIX-11 plugs in the 1UZ, I just pulled them out tonight...
Hey whats going on? Good to see you made it on here.
Thanks, I got it in a group buy here in the group buy section. Not sure if there are many left though.
Hi all, along with my many Supra I have many MORE bikes. Mostly 60's-90's metric cruisers, but recently my father and I have been working on this 1993 Suzuki GSX-R 750. We got the bike for free with a blown engine, the previous owner had no mechanical skills and after a failed attempt to...
The dome lights in my car were very inconsistant, one day they would function and then for the next month they would not. I tracked it down to the rivets that goes between the male pins for the connector that goes to the body and the wires that feed the lights/switches on the dome assembly. I...
Worked on the oil cooler today, got it mounted primed and pumping. It seems to be working great, other than a small leak at the connections on the cooler, Just got back from a run around town so when it cools I'm going to put a little more torque on them to see if that solves the issue.
