Nice welding! I have my Apex'i filter/intake pulling cold air in from underneath the headlight (it fits easily because I have really small modded headlights) I always try to recommend a cold air intake after I read that IJ recorded around 20 degrees colder intake temps from the mod on his car.
^^ I agree. Just last year I swapped in the softest Tein coilovers and a quiet 2 muffler exhaust with a cat :D The ears and body can only take so many years of abuse!

My car had a worn U-joint in the intermediate steering shaft in the engine bay. It was one of the most brutal jobs to replace! I still have some steering play and I know part of it is from my rack bushings. (the rack was seen to be moving a bit when turning the wheel on a hoist)
JetJock posted a link above to the SG website http://www.simplegreen.com/solutions_faqs.php?search_query=aluminum&search=Search
that says SG is ok to use on aluminum for a very short time, or to use their HD product that is safe for aluminum.
Many turbos don't have a seal there, it's just metal on metal. My new HTA GT turbo doesn't, and neither did my upgraded CT26. The CT leaked a lot of air so I put a thin bead of silicone on it.
It seems stupid that there is no seal there, it makes it much harder to test for boost leaks when the...
It looks like I would have to remove my Bomex bumper to remove and clean my IC. Instead, I was thinking of rigging up a bucket of hot water and Castrol super clean(degreaser) and flushing/cycling it through with a sump pump I have; then rinse, & blow dry overnight. Should work, right?
For those that have an EGT meter in-car: Does it react fast enough to measure WOT pulls? Do you just use it to see the temp at cruising? Is there even really much of a need to have one?
Thanks! I'll bet the original owner is probably thinking :aigo:WTF!? The original TRD stripes were his idea (Pic below).
Updates on the car: I've since installed whiteline sway bars, and I'm about to install the 13" Doward front brake kit and MK4 TT rear brakes. Currently I'm in the middle of...
It takes a little slight of hand: connect your meter to the battery terminals first, then lift off the terminal from the battery so any continuous current load gets transferred to the meter. If you want to test immediately after shutting the car off, get a helper to help you :)
My only beef with mine was that I installed brand new door and targa seals, and the modules wouldn't roll the windows up with enough force to properly squeeze the top seal on one of my windows causing wind noise. And if I pushed the up button repeatedly it wouldn't go up further because of the...
In general, the bigger straight-through mufflers are quiter. I also suggest running 2 mufflers. Have a look at a photo of a Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust and you can see it has two good sized mufflers. I had a 13" long Vibrant 3" muffler added to my exhaust right near the differential, and an...
I've seen a thread or 2 on Supraforums where guys have have had a good tuner dial in the VVTI cam timing with a standalone and shown 500-1000 rpm sooner spool compared to most regular 2JZ's.
The key to noise reducion is to fit full body sized muffler(s). Resonators are too small to make much difference. Have a look at a photo of a Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust and you can see it has two good sized mufflers. I had a 13" long Vibrant 3" muffler added to my exhaust right near the...
