Windows auto-up, using DEI 529t roll-up module

Finishing my alarm install (hiding it properly) and am getting ready to install an auto-window-up deal that rolls the windows up when the alarm is armed.

I have used the alarm install info from the Tech-tips section, but did not see anything about this.

Does anyone have some experience with the installation of one of these into an MKIII?

Install tips, wiring info, likes/dislikes of the feature?

Thanks,
E

Since I don't have one on the Supra but do have one on another car I'll offer what I can. Works well enough. Rolls up on door locking (arming occurs at the same moment) and also during remote start. What do you want to know about the wiring? It isn't difficult and with the MKIII and I can see a few ways of going about it. You'll need to add some from the body into the driver's door no matter what though. My car has window switches on the center console so install was easy but doing it on a Supra shouldn't be a big deal.

I am probably going to install the module in the dash somewhere, running the appropriate wires to each door's switch/motor. I had seen/heard of others controlling both windows from the driver's switch/door (not on a Supra though).

Also, since our door mirror mounting brackets always get jacked up from the window going too far up, I was hoping for feedback relative to anything else that they've experienced with the feature on an MKIII.

It's a fairly straightforward install and I am going to tie it into the alarm using the door lock trigger.

Other input/advice?

There's no need to go into the pax door as that line can be tapped anywhere between there and the driver's door. Imho it'd be easiest to control both windows from the master switch though. Whether it would be better to install the box in the door or under the dash would depend on the number of wires required into the door. Since I don't have the box's pinout handy I can't make that call.

I'm unfamiliar with that problem. Using a roll up module isn't much different than using a master switch modified for auto up and in doing that I've yet to have any issues with the mirror.

Yep me too, my driver's side already has the auto-up mod from the previous owner. I am using the DEI 529T roll-up module. I did not want the roll-down option, but may consider it later, if I find a good-enough reason to.

This is the link to the install manual(MS Word format). http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=336

I am open to options and since you guys are familiar with our car's quirks, I would definitley appreciate info on the wires to connect, location of the module, and any other advice you may have.

THANKS!!!

The modules I mentioned do both auto up and down and have current sensing so the windows stop immediately upon resistance (or when the windows are shut). Windows down at the push of a remote button is handy to vent the car on a hot day from inside your house when you are about to go for a drive.

This one has the auto-sensing as well. Just never had the feature before, so wanted to know of any pros/cons with our Sups.

Did not get to install it yesterday, so I may try this evening.

Thanks for all the info!

My only beef with mine was that I installed brand new door and targa seals, and the modules wouldn't roll the windows up with enough force to properly squeeze the top seal on one of my windows causing wind noise. And if I pushed the up button repeatedly it wouldn't go up further because of the pressure/current sensor. I bypassed my modules over the winter and spring to hopefully break in the seals so this doesn't happen again when I hook them back up!

In my Mk2 Supra I had a Twindows module that did not have this problem. The windows still worked like stock, whereas the Autoloc unit is a one-touch unit designed to work all the time.

My installer installed 2 of these into my driver's door: http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc/detail.lasso?itemid=WC1000. He needed another couple of wires fed through the door jam. These modules give you one-touch auto up/down windows from inside the car but also work with alarms for up/down.

I've had this same module in my passenger door since 2001 or so. Works PERFECTLY! One module will allow auto up/down control from both driver and passenger switch (for the passenger window). The current sensing circuit will prevent it from cutting off your finger if you are too stupid to remove it from the path of a closing window.
