i dont know why you guys are getting so amped up against k&n. they filter just fine, and the only oil issue in the afm i've ever heard of is when people over oil it. don't have the afm any more, but i did for nearly 9 yrs and never a problem.
i have stainless hardware with torx bolts, lock washers, small flat washer, and a grommet of some sort. all torqued properly and been on the car 8yrs. no leaks and still all in good shape.
what? i know LI closed, but Etown is only like 1.5hr. even atco is less than 3hrs. there is an 1/8mi off I495 which is only bout 30min from LI. Lebanon is around 3hrs, i guess that's the one you are talking about.
if it's a gray plug and your car isn't auto it should be fine.

the one and only ecu i've seen bad in 11 years playing with supras was causing an 02 code. i'd try to swap with someone if you have confirmed everything else.
i'm thinking that will rub the strut without a spacer. and with a spacer you will need fender mods. sidewall design will play a part as well, and with a 295 on a 9" it isnt going to be a very square sidewall.
that's why i originally wanted to use the ultra bell. too bad it is way too massive to fit in the tunnel.
you can get a scattershield tho and make it fit somehow. space is a premium.
