Is the ecu masters plug and play ready for the 7mgte? This will not read the factory 7mgte knock sensors? It might be time to stand alone. I missed the dimensions of the ecu and length of adapter harness.
Why not raise your car a bit and machine the flange on current down pipe and get a toyota gasket. I feel open air is only ok on big turbo high boost set up. IMO Kind of gay keeping up with minivan and hearing open air waste gate. Just sayin
I agree that the CPS could be the problem could even be AFM At least they are the two most expensive ones. A good tech with fast oscilloscope can test for Ne or G signal break up at cps if test good then at ecu.
I am not so sure the breakup is ignition related. IMO . Could also be AFM...
I thought it was 500k with any fuel quality. Just kidding. I would go with the KISS method. Just eliminate a basic maintanence item. Or buy and electronic fuel pressure gauge so you can watch while driving.
Any stored codes?
BTW what is up with inst cluster the first few seconds of video...
^^^. Totally agree. Once you know it's new in your lifetime you are good. Not saying it is your problem. But I would have a new one on today if I was you. Alot of guys are finding wire connector issues like 3P's said and brittle wiring around back side of head. IE: #5 and 6 runner area...
I would use what the car came from the factory with.. FIPG. Go to your dealer and get some and be done. BTW Since you have used a gasket you need to check for deformation around bolt holes. Lay on a flat surface and use 1'2 drive extension and hammer to tap flat. IMO Good luck.
I agree the ugly. That is the signal biggest reasons to go 2j . Looks. AS much as I love the 7m and they have treated me right i do want to go 2j . IMO Not worth the money to FFIM on the 7m and still have Ok ignition system even with HKS DLI . And out dated electronics. IMO When I go...
I got tired of getting explaining that my car is 7m still. So now when people look at my car and say "2j right" i say yes and open the hood and they are like "cool" . It kills me that so many people are "{fast and furious 2 j " and don't even know what they are looking at. Just sayin.
If the fuel system was that bad you may have some injector problems.
If cold start injector is not working car will be hard to start even if the 6 injectors are spraying ok. You can test the CSI by removing the 3000 pipe and power fuel pump , FP to B+. Make a jumper harness to supply 12v...
Maybe you should go do some reading. I never said an OEM unopened 2J engine had a failure. Engine that that have work done IE: rebuilds are having head gasket failure.
Btw your cute picture shows an improperly maintained supra, It should have Toyota red coolant not green. Even more to my...
I guess this old thread is alive now. The 7M is a great engine.
Looking through the MKIV sections of forums it looks like the 2jz engine that have been worked on are having head gasket issues. This brings me to my point. Most 7M failures are caused by Lack on maintanance IE fluid levels...
