Spiders are bastards. So are mice, wasps, caterpillars... and anything else that thinks a car makes a good place to live.
You would not believe the number of mud wasp nests I had to clean out of my supra while I was building it. They were EVERYWHERE.
Damn, all the cheapasses around here must drive the prices up. I went to the local auction a few times and everything got bid up way more than it was worth. A ratty galant sold for $2K.
Maybe I should hit the city auctions for my winter beater...
Yeah I saw one of those festiva's at Carlisle one year. They're called the "Shogun". They're also widebody, IIRC.
When I was looking for a "fast" project car (when I got the supra) a miata was actually on my list. I would go turbo with one of those though, a V8 is a bit too sacrilegious for me...
The clutch line or slave cylinder wasn't leaking was it? Brake fluid is flammable (not easily like gas, but if it gets hot enough it will burn). If it was spraying on the hot clutch (possibly why it was slipping?) maybe that's what set the fire.
My water pump bearing is growling... need to change the pump. I'd prefer to just change the front part that's easy to change and less expensive.
My engine is the 1JZ from the JZZ30 soarer that came with a clutch fan (I didn't have to swap from a hydro fan), is this the same water pump as the...
Excellent.... now I've got a few more cars to add to my list. I had most of the dodge/chrysler models on the list already, but I forgot about the metro, festiva and temo/topaz.
I'm sure everyone out there has lost a race at once time or another to a car that was just plain embarrassing to lose to.
I once lost to a turbo cavalier. Yeah I know. :nono:
But out of all the possibilities... what would be the worst?
I'm shopping for a winter beater again, and I'm...
The other problem with eliminating the canister is that the fuel tank emits vapors when the car is parked. Ever see a plastic gas can sitting in the sun that swelled up from the pressure? Don't want your fuel tank doing that, or shooting vapors into the intake manifold (which would backflow out...
Just a quick thought, check the inside of you panel to make sure they painted over where the stud welder burned the paint on the inside of the panel. I had a dent pulled with a stud welder on my last car and the body shop didn't paint the inside (just spraypaint would suffice). Two years later...
I have the ride height specs from the 90' TSRM, 7.9" front and 8.6" rear measured from the LCA pivot bolts. Are these the same that are in the 87' TSRM?
Trying to calculate my estimated weight loss based on the OE spring rates, (approx 460Lb/in front and 180Lb/in rear) but I have a feeling...
Scratch that, my idea didn't work. I had planned to cut the stock rear mounts apart and weld a spring seat to them, but it won't flex with the shock so the spring will bow and rub the threaded sleeve. My concern was that the rear shock mount had no solid (steel) place for an upper spring seat...
Only way is to take the seat out, take the cushion off, and rinse it, wring it out, and repeat till the soap is out. I had to clean melted butter out of the seat foam in our mazda and we had to do this with dish soap to get the butter out. Not fun.
Yeah, 24 hours my ass.
Maybe 24 hours on a perfect rust free car that already had solid paint... starting the timer AFTER the car is stripped and masked (and doing a half-ass job by not removing door and window trim and just painting over it or masking it off).
I just did a flat black paint...
I'd love to run E85, but the closest station is about an hour away. So 93 octane it is.
BTW... if possible, you should run "top tier" fuel. There are apparently a few gas companies that offer better quality fuel than others, and there's a list of them on toptiergas.com. Even toyota recommends...
