I need to to the rear brakes on my car tonight so I guess I'll pull a front wheel while it's on the lift and see if the caliper bracket and rotor fits. These would be a cheap upgrade.
I had a 94' GS300 in for front brake pads/rotors at work today and noticed the brakes would be a nice upgrade for a MKIII, but I don't know if the calipers have the same bolt spacing as our cars, does anyone know if these bolt up?
The rotors are about the same diameter as ours... but are...
Read on here that on manual transmission cars all you had to do to bypass the JDM 180kph speed limiter was to cut the pink speed sensor wire at the ECU. This does work to get rid of the speed cut.... but my car also refused to idle normally after I did it. It was idling really low, just on the...
Yeah I had a brain fart there and forgot about the fuel and compression side of things. Been dealing with alot of ignition issues on several cars lately so I've got spark on the brain.
The ignitor can burn partway out though. I haven't seen it on a supra, but I have on other COP/DIS cars.
If it's all you can afford then it's fine, but there are much better options out there if you have the money. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it's the way to go. I'm not sure if you've researched exactly what the effect is that it has on the ignition timing or not, but if you're going...
Most likely an igniter problem, or a wiring problem to the igniter.
I'd also use a spark tester and test the coils with them unbolted. The coils on the JZ motors usually don't completely fail like that, they normally crack and leak sparks around the tower or mounting bolts and the engine runs...
Heh I used to think that it only mattered that the lights looked cool to me... till I had an angry guy in a pickup truck (that was in front of me) pull over, wait for me to pass, then chase me down and try to run me off the road. I was lucky my car was faster than his truck, and I knew the back...
Cool. Factory/dealer documents like this are always interesting...
I always track down dealer brochures/window stickers/accessory catalogs for my project cars. Great stuff to frame and stick on the garage wall. Still have to find supra ones to add to my collection though.
I just did the auto to W58 swap on my car and the original auto cable fit perfectly with no stretching or anything. It had 3 sections when it was connected to the A340E, apparently the one section is used only on the A/T cars. After I took that piece out it connected right up and works fine. If...
Can't we make a thread with this info and sticky it or something? I swear someone asks this question once a week. Not counting the hundreds of times this has been asked in the suspension section.
You don't want coilovers anyway, you want coilunders. Less unsprung weight. J/K.
I have custom...
Ticking sound is probably from the crank moving and something rubbing on something it normally wouldn't.
I've heard 2g eclipses with bad crankwalk that ticked like that.
I used the stock oil cooler for my PS... really easy. The hoses are to correct size and everything. I mounted it in the fog light hole with a little bracket.
I did this. Turns out good if your silver paint wasn't peeled at all. One of my rims was and it was all corroded under the paint. I just got the cheapest paint stripper they had at walmart and put it on with a cheap paint brush. An old toothbrush will loosen the stuff up without scratching the...
I'll check out the alignment specs and see what was different on 87 vs 90.
Possible that the steering damper was added as a running change? Maybe they found that some people complained or someone just had an idea so they added it?
I found that a steering damper from a 95' C280 (Mercedes) will...
Nope, I aligned it myself at work. We have a good alignment machine, $7K John Beam camera type. I used 90' specs because I'm running at 90' ride height spec.
I have new energy suspension bushings front and rear, new koni sport shocks, new springs, rebuilt steering rack, checked the steering column and steering shaft joints, checked the subframe bolts and bushings, all new balljoints, checked the tie rod ends (inner and outer), and checked the rack...
