Thanks, I'm thinking I might just get the new kit. They are lathe cut now according to DM. I'm not sure what else they changed, but I don't like using an uncoated aluminum ring between a steel hub and rotor anyway, being dissimilar metals and all.
I wouldn't really even be upgrading the brakes...
I'm planning on doing the cobra brakes on my car, and buying the doward kit to do it. I saw on DM that they updated it with different bolts and steel center rings. Is there a huge difference between the old vs new kits?
I found a few people selling the older style kit, but I would rather the...
Nope, they weren't the C7's. I can't find them now. I think I know what wheels are on the NSX I posted earlier though, aren't they Work Meisters of some sort? Out of my price range anyway... I'm looking for wheels in the under $950 range.
I think the point he's trying to make is that it's smarter to buy a less expensive older car rather than paying full price for a new car that performs the same. A very well modded MKIII for ~$10K is a much better buy than $30,000+ for a stock Hemi Charger in the eyes of most people here (I would...
I wish they would invent paint that changed color at the flip of a switch.... we have electronic valve actuation in 2011 but we don't have electro-change paint? Someone is slacking.
I think a MKIII would look sweet in a deep copper pearl with a slight color change...
Not saying this would...
It's a bit better than the Apexi units because it has more detailed control of the fuel corrections... but it still has the same problem that any piggyback unit has, it's always fighting with the stock ECU.
Yeah it should work fine on a 1JZ, the sensor is compatible.
I'd hook up the TPS signal...
It's fairly rare. Not "big money" rare, but rare anyway.
No idea how to tell if it's original, but google the specs/features for that car and see if it all matches up.
I have the stock replacement Walker/NAPA system that came on my car (was a 7MGTE), measures 1 7/8" OD before the muffler.
Just realized something here... Why the hell am I keeping this thing around?... I need to make a recycling run.
Cool valve. I remember the Fram oil change valves that used to be popular.
I use a steel washer with a molded in silicone or rubber ring on the inside, most GM's use them. They work great. There's no "crush" to it, so you can easily feel when the plug is tight, and it never has any chance of...
Disconnect the hoses and start the car. You have to open the system to put the radiator in anyway.
FWIW the two hoses that go to the upper radiator neck should be the feed hoses, but I'm not 100% sure.
From what I've read, I don't think a conventional motor will fit under the hood. It's too low to fit anything other than a boxer engine layout. STi motors are no slouch though.
I think, unfortunately, tuning will get very difficult, and then become easier again once petroleum engines are...
Google "used JDM wheels". There's a ton of places that import them and refinish/rebarrel/redrill/whatever...
I found a sweet set of Tom's wheels a few weeks ago (I think memory fab had them) that would have looked awesome on an MA70. I was ready to order them and my turbo's took a dump. Now...
I like my hard top... but if I were you I'd sell it and buy a hard top if you really want one. They aren't like the MKIV where the hard top cars are very hard to find.
I attempted a rebuild earlier this year and had the same problem, except my gear puller broke. I might give it another shot over the winter. I'd really like to find a MKIV W58 in good shape though, and swap that in instead. I know this alloy plate W isn't going to last, especially with loose...
I got a rebuild kit for my W58, but I see there are several special gear pullers and installers that you need to change the bearings on this gearbox. Has anyone here done it without them? I hesitate to spend a huge amount of money on tools that I might only use once. I priced one of the gear...
