What's the difference between the BEP 9cm HY35 housing and the 9cm housing that comes on the HY35 already? I've never seen a BEP T3 flanged Holset housing at all, they don't list them on their site either. http://www.bullseyepower.com/u_turbine_housings.asp
I just bought an HY35 to replace my...
The other nice thing about the vvti is that it eliminates one of the big shortcomings of the 1JZ engine... lack of low end power and torque. If you compare a dyno chart of a stock 1JZ vvti to a non vvti you'll see what I mean. It's a BIG difference. I never compared the 1JZ vvti to a non-vvti...
It's not that stupid. Even though I torque my crank bolt to spec every time, the damn thing never comes out with the impact gun. I have a Snap-On 1/2" gun rated at 575ft-lbs running on a 100 gallon compressor with full 1/2"ID high flow disconnects. Bastard gets TIGHT somehow.
I stick a 3/4"...
I think the main problem people have with the Toyota HG is that it won't work on a block that's been resurfaced with a belt sander. Every BHG 7M I've ever pulled apart had apparently been resurfaced with something made by Black and Decker.
You can't here either. I have two working A340's here that I pretty much am giving away to whoever will pick them up (to use in a car and not recycle).
Once you get past 3 inches thick the heat rejection gains really start to taper off. A 4 inch thick core might not be more than a few percent better than a 3 inch thick core. This is why you only see extremely thick radiators in places where there's not enough room for more frontal area.
A...
Quick thought...
Is the core more restrictive (to airflow) on the Mishimotor rad?
If it is, the fan could be drawing itself into the radiator.
Think about it. If you stick a flat board in front of a pulling type fan, the blades will pull a vacuum between the fan and the board, which will...
Yeah those RSR spring had almost double the rates of the stock springs if I recall.
If you really want stiff linear springs, coilovers are your best bet now. Megan EZ coilovers seem to have somewhat of a following here, same with the Megan Track coilovers.
Lots of good advice in this thread.
Another big thing with these are to make sure there isn't a bunch of small stuff broken or missing, like trim pieces (especially trim pieces). Body parts are pretty much all dealer parts; some are discontinued, and the rest are extremely expensive. Used body...
Don't get brake cleaner on plastic.
Some plastics... it will literally shatter them in slow motion right in front of your eyes. I learned this while prepping an airsoft gun for paint. It was horrible. I sprayed it on and a few seconds later all these cracks formed all over and it just fell...
Swapping to lighter seats and gutting it from the seats back will take about 300 pounds out of the car. Another 45 pounds if you pull the carpet and chip the tar mats out. That's 10% of the car's weight. It's like making the brakes, tires, suspension, and engine all 10% better.
You can remove...
Alot of the springs for this car are incorrectly listed as progressive because of the built in helper spring they use to hold the spring in place at full droop. When the car is set down on the ground the entire upper set of coils bind and the functional part of the spring is then linear. At...
The easy way to remove the stock spherical bearing/bushing on the rear without pulling the knuckle off is to use a socket and an air chisel with a flat round bit. It comes out like butter. Took me about 15 seconds per side.
Then to install you just need a few washers, a socket, and a long bolt...
They will handle almost like stock. The stiffer aftermarket springs are what usually provides the noticeable handling change over the stock suspension. The dampers just control the motion of the springs. The stiffer springs are what provides the resistance to movement that makes the car feel...
Big thing to watch out for would be any car that used CAN-BUS. On those some of the gauge signals usually come to the cluster on a serial data line from either the PCM or BCM, so there would be no way to easily wire them into our car, since our car predates CAN-BUS by a decade or two.
Probly...
Driftmotion sells a pre-modded ebay manifold that fits and is durable, and is affordable. It's got a T4 flange.
As for turbo size... check out this calculator.

It's the best I've found anywhere so far, it has a ton of compressor maps and is easy to use...
