You know you're a Supra owner when...

ROFL... I had something like this happen to me years ago with another car I had. The guy down the street complained that I was doing 60 past his house in a 25 zone and I was gonna hit his kids (who were teenage stoners that wandered across the road in front of cars). After the cop sat there...

do mk3 and s13 have the same size headlights??

The silverstars are brighter, but they burn out way faster. I use to run them in my eclipse, but I got tired of paying so much for them to only last a few months when I was getting a few years out of regular bulbs.

My new style gauge cluster with all new LED lights and some custom stuff also!

Cool, I'm gonna get a set of these for mine. The stock look is getting old already and I've only had the car for a year. The electronic leveling headlights are pretty useless, our mazda has them. I never even had to lower them when I had a full load in the car, they were still low enough not to...

Whos has the best/coolest license plates

I should get a vanity plate... I was looking at all the specialty plates in PA and they all suck, and collector plates are only for non-modded cars here (you even have to send in pictures). PA used to have cool looking all black "DARE" plates that I wanted so badly, but as soon as I got a...

    Rear BBK anyone?

Could probably use a proportioning valve from an evo then too, for ideal bias, no? I might have to cave on joining the BBK "club" if the front evo brakes could be fitted with just an adapter plate. Just something I can't resist about retrofitting parts from other cars, especially well...

    Noob Question on Retarding Timing

I didn't find the need to retard the ignition timing at all on mine, I'm actually running with it advanced (it's a side effect of pulling airflow with the the AFC Neo to lean the car out with the bigger injectors). You shouldn't need to worry about retarding timing with the stock turbos still...

General questions for a general thread

Being picky is a good thing. Compromise is what causes most of the problems with modded cars. It's been the cause of all of my problems I've ever had (with cars and anything else).

    transmission mounting bracket direction?

It should only fit one way. The side that goes towards the exhaust is slanted where it bolts to the car. So if it bolted up flat, you got it right.

Coil Pack Feeler Thread of sorts...

Yes, but... I also got rid of the rest of the engine. I'm guessing that doesn't count.

    Jza70 help!

The 1JZ body harness is the same as the stock USDM that was used with the 7M for that same year. Well... it's routed different and the wires are different lengths, but all the same wires and plugs are there. You should be fine using a USDM wiring diagram for the 89-92' cars. If you already tried...

    Aftermarket tie rods ends

The tie-rod ends are generally for bumpsteer correction, although it's possible that dropping the outer tie rods to correct the bumpsteer also allows increased angle. I'm too tired right now to think about it...

do i need a new drive shaft if i swap in a 1jz in my 86 supra

Auto uses a different driveshaft from both the W58 and R154 manual trans. The shaft for the manual trans will bolt right in though. Oh and also, you might have an easier time finding parts if you consider your car an 87'. Most parts places have the 86' listed as being the older body style MKII...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

I have my toe set to about .05 degrees toe-in, and caster is set to 90' specs, but I will play with them a bit. I drove the car all over the place yesterday and it worked great so far, the rack seems to be happy with this pressure. I can steer as fast as I want and it feels the same, no weird...

    Cipher Auto Seats

Cheap seats also feel and look cheap, and fade very quickly, if the chance of death isn't a deterrent enough. I put a set of OEM seats from another car in mine. I had to weld brackets for them, but I've heard many honda seats will nearly bolt right in. RSX and S2000 included.

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

I'll do a write up on the torsion bar once I figure that out, since that's responsible for 99% of the on center feel. The spring mod I just did only makes the steering feel "heavier" when you're sawing through turns. Gives the car a "substantial" feeling, sort of. For the spring mod, all you...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

The bypass valve is separate from the flow control valve though IJ, the bypass valve is always closed (unless you hit the stops) but the flow valve is constantly operating whenever you're above idle. A larger or smaller pulley really shouldn't have any effect unless you go beyond the design...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

You're right about the torsion bar. That is a much better way to do this. A stiffer torsion bar would improve steering feel (especially on-center feel) and reduce the amount of fluid allowed through the spool valve, which would reduce assist. That would be the best way to do it. Finding a rack...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

Ok, so I found something interesting. Toyota sells different springs and flow valve pistons for their power steering pumps, and each one allows for a different steering feel. I found this out looking up flow control springs and pistons in the toyota parts system. There are quite a few different...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

Not sure, but I do know the assist is light as a feather with my 1JZ pump, which is the same pump body as the 2JZ pump from what I've found. I can't imagine the 7M pump being even lighter than this already is. Maybe your pump is worn or something? I thought of pulley sizes... but the flow...

Adjusting the power steering pump for lower pressure, has anyone done it?

After reading the description of thow the flow control and bypass valve works (looked up the patent for it), it seems lowering the pressure can't be done the way the offroad guys are raising the pressure. They are pretty much shimming the safety bypass valve so it doesn't open till a higher...
