On my car I just stuck a $15 Airaid mini filter on the ISCV itself. That pipe being off shouldn't make the car idle weird/high. Mine ran fine with it off even before I stuck the filter on there. Sounds like you have an intake manifold vacuum leak somewhere (vac hose or something).
Here's the link to the modding guide on SF. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?152334-Newbie-s-guide-to-Modifying-your-MK3-turbo
I can never remember what forums allow linking to other forums and which ones don't.
I'd bet that first car that spun out while passing was trying to blast past the car he was passing... WOT + 400hp + swerving + damp road = spectacular spin.
I know because I did the exact same thing a few months ago doing 70mph on the highway, unfortunately. I was lucky enough not to have 3...
If you're looking for a staged mods list, I never saw one here, but one of the other forums has one. It's from 2003 though... so keep that in mind.
I don't know if linking to other forums is allowed, so I won't post a link here.
Yeah the 6 speed getrag is set up for a 3.13 ratio. God that would be awful in a car with a 4.30 non-turbo rear, lol. You'd be at 3,500 RPM in 6th on the highway.
Yeah, I broke it in for 800 or so miles. I had the flywheel machined at the same place that does all my flywheels, they do good work.
I've never bought a clutch before that didn't hold the power it claimed to hold. Every puck style clutch I've ever bought held fine before it was even broken in...
The lowest springs for the MKIII are Dropzone. They were a 3" drop on the front of my car. I got them cause I took so much weight out of the car that it was 1.5" above stock ride height with the stock springs, these brought mine to 2" drop on the front and 1.25" out back. I custom made spacers...
Just figured I'd post this up for anyone who searches for this company in the future.
I took the chance on an "eClutchmaster" stage 2 clutch for my car, it was the MKIV NA kit (for the W58 trans). I paid $150 shipped. *When I bought it* (it has since been revised), it was listed to hold 380hp...
Aftermarket clutches are designed to hold more power, or to engage faster (puck style discs), but they aren't designed to last longer than the stock clutch. The only way they would last longer is if you're making more power than the stock clutch can hold and it's slipping and wearing out faster...
Mazdas are always killers in the handling department above all else. They went too far with the weak engine in the RX8 though. If they weren't going to offer forced induction they should have at least made it a 3 rotor (or 4) so it had some decent power.
Still, I hate people who get cocky about...
The collar that the release bearing rides on on my 86.5' W58 is shorter by about 1/4" than the collar on the MKIV W58 that I had bought for parts. When I had the MKIV release bearing installed in the older W58 on the car it was off the front of the collar halfway and was flopping around.
The...
The GS300 never came with a manual trans (afaik), but the SC300 and MKIV NA both did and the parts will work. You also need the clutch fork from whatever car you get the bellhousing from. If you're using a W58 from an older W58 you will need to use the old cast style release bearing that came...
No, it's been superseded by III since the car was built.
My PS works fine with power steering fluid it in. Toyota specs ATF because they already stock it for transmissions, so it eliminates the need to stock a separate fluid at their dealerships. I doubt the fluid type is causing the problem...
You're not supposed to hit the upper ball joint bolt or nut with a hammer at all. The threads are probably messed up from doing that. To pop the upper ball joint apart you're supposed to take the ball joint nut off and then hit the side of the cast iron knuckle where the ball joint went through...
I've had 6-pucks before, and if you try to slip them any more than when you're casually pulling away from a stop sign, they shudder and grab horribly. I blew a trans in my eclipse trying to slip a 6-puck to get on boost faster in 3rd gear. It shuddered and ripped all the teeth off the gear.
