I think you're thinking of the pre89 moldings, they had steel cores. I have the ones he pictured above with the strip that comes out and they are all plastic. Looks like the newest ones mold that strip right in, judging from the picture.
Forgot this...
You'll also need a t3 manifold or a T4 manifold with an adapter. You need to run a 2005 dodge ram cummins turbo oil drain tube, because even though a garret T4 turbo drain will fit, it's too small inside and will lead to blown turbo seals. You need to figure out how to connect...
If you want to know about the Holset turbos punch this into google:

Also check out this page on the same site, it has condensed info of that search: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/362444-holset-turbos-faq.html
The DSM guys love those things. They...
Yeah they dust alot. I notice the dust after just a few miles of hard driving. I don't mind it, personally.
They only squeak on my car right after I run them hard, other than that they don't.
How well rotor/caliper upgrades do on any given car is really on a case by case basis. Once you start...
The toyota one was probably much bigger 20 years ago, toyota probably released an updated filter that fits some newer model and supersedes the original spec filter (just cause it fits and works, not because it's better). I'm not 100% sure this is the case here, but that exact thing happened on...

German rod knock is really really complicated. You need 8 years of college to even hear it.
In soviet russia, rod knock gets you.
We need to sticky this. Some good info here.
If it's a 1JZ single turbo, then you either have the newer style 1JZ with VVTi, or the motor has an aftermarket turbo system. Everything I said still applies though. The VVTi motors have the same issues and cost about the same (maybe $200 more for a used one).
I was just messing with you on the...
You can buy a lightweight aluminum one on ebay for $290 shipped.
They do show up on the forums every few weeks. If you get one used for less than $200 you're lucky.
Yeah, I like unique colors on valve covers. It was a toss up between that color and pearl white. I really liked the way purple pearl looked on my wife's old car, it really stood out...
Check your speedometer to make sure you're not driving faster than it's showing. Mine is off by 7mph at 75 with my swap. Use a GPS or a stopwatch between milemarkers on the highway to check it.
The 1JZ should get about 17 mpg combined during normal driving. Maybe 20-23 highway, but people have...
I run the EBC yellowstuff on mine. I only have about 4000 miles on them, but I do alot of city driving, so I stop alot per mile.
So far barely any rotor wear, they only screech during low effort/low speed stops after I beat the hell out of them for a hour on a back road (and this goes away...

Take a look at that. The 7M uses a system like the one pictured at the very beginning of that article. Hope this helps you figure it out.
I love those wheels... I was trying to find something like that for my car back when I got my current set. Gold centers with silver rims on a flat black car looks badass.
From what I've seen at car shows, most people just take them out or cut them back. I'm assuming the tire hits them when the car is lowered very low.
Taking them completely out is not the best idea though. Dirt and water will get into places they shouldn't. They're also there for aerodynamic...
