120ish.... Which was about 6000rpm in 4th. I hit the damn JDM speed limiter at this point. I need to remove that sometime, but I rarely have an opportunity to go over 120 so it's not a priority.
Sure does get there quick though. I was surprised by the limiter, I thought I was only doing about...
I would start off by getting half your money back, because he sold you half of a nissan motor.
See if he has any 1JZGTE engines for sale instead.
If the motor is in good shape you don't need to rebuild it for 450hp. All you need is an upgraded fuel system (injectors, pump) and a single turbo...
The post 89 moldings are about 1/4 the weight of the older ones too. It's been a while, I don't remember actual weights, but I remember being surprised how much the old metal backed stuff weighed compared to the all plastic ones.
If you follow the link in my sig there's a few big pictures of...
I learned to drive in my mom's subaru GL-10 wagon, but this was the first car that was mine. My parents bought it for me as a high school graduation present. It was in decent shape, but was a non-turbo... for a few months. I learned ALOT with this car. It was my daily driver for 9 years. I still...
At least she didn't hit either car. I once saw a woman parking in front of the local H&R Block and she literally smashed her car into both cars she was parking between. Then she got out like nothing strange happened and went in. Turns out she WORKS there. Both cars were probably customers. I...
Yeah it's not something that you would use to win a race, but it looks like fun. Kind of like those "slick track" go kart tracks.
He's right about the newer cars having such high limits that they're less fun on the street though. Sure, you can go faster than an older car, but learning car...
Easiest way to mate a 7MGE W58 to a 1JZ...
~$300- 2JZGE Bellhousing (93+ supra non turbo or 92+ SC300)
~$60- 2JZGE clutch release fork
~$200- 2JZGE flywheel
~$400- 2JZGE racing clutch kit (stock is too weak, buy a good one from ACT, Spec, Comp, or another reputable place)
~$30- Manual trans...
Often thought about putting snow tires on the car, but the number of people who are driving around on bald tires this year is staggering. So I'll just hide my car in the garage at work every time it snows.
Bleh, nevermind.
FWIW, I just noticed BC is using the same spring rates as the Megan EZ street. 14/8 F/R.
The front rear ratio is about the same as stock too. I retract my previous statement, I think I like the BC's better now, despite the pillow ball top hats.
I've heard that people liked the Megan EZ coilovers. They don't have pillow ball hats so they don't have that harshness that track coilovers do, plus the spring rates are lower, but still much stiffer than stock springs.
I don't have them, but if I ever switch to coilovers I think those are...
I think that when it comes to drag at high speeds, the low frontal area of our cars more than offsets the increase in cd compared to newer cars that have a huge frontal area (to reduce pedestrian injuries).
The nose in that picture isn't lifted up 2"... maybe 0.5". Still surprising though.
FWIW... my 87' didn't have a single seized bolt on it. Doing the bushings was a piece of cake. You'll want a few 12" pieces of 3/8" allthread and a set of 1/2" drive sockets to press the stock bushings out though. A press is a big help too, but you don't absolutely need one.
For the sway bar...
Easy way to know if the hub splines are the same or not is to look up a hub kit for a racing wheel and see if the MKIV uses the same hub kit as a MKIII. If not then the swap won't be a bolt on deal.
If you're having a shop swap in a JDM motor then just go with a 1JZGTE. A JDM 7MGTE will need to have the head gasket upgraded to an HKS metal gasket immediately (the head gasket is a major issue on 7M engines, and you're taking a big risk swapping in a JDM 7MGTE without doing the headgasket...
I have a rule. If I call them and I can't understand them, or they have broken english on their website or ebay ad... it's a deal breaker. I also never buy from a place that uses "stock" photos. I want actual pictures of the exact engine I'm buying. Compression test videos of the actual motor...
The HY35 is about the same wheel sizes as a GT3076R (it's the closest thing garrett sells anyway). So the GT3071R is just one step down. If I got the GT3071R I'd probably get it with the divided .78 a/r T3 housing, which should spool fast enough even without the QS valve (with it I'd be worried...
