Did the lights dim because the engine rpm dropped? Was the old alternator the problem? Sounds like a bad ecu, a lot of time they will work until the electrolyte eats through a copper trace on the pc board. Open the ecu and look carefully under all the capacitors for discoloration on the pc...

I think the 1jz and 7m are about the same difficulty to work on, you just find yourself needing to work on the 1jz a lot less. :biglaugh:

Electronic solenoids not wired in correctly? It's probably taking off in 2nd or 3rd gear. As far as the coolant in the oil goes, it could be a bhg. It's not easy to do, but if you overheat a 1jz enough it can happen.
