I'm thinking of swapping to a 1jze, and it's gotta be automatic trans, (because I live in Los Angeles and traffic is nasty, so a 5spd won't work for me) but my dilemma is:

How well will this work for a daily driver?

Being that the 1jze is only 2.5 litres, and from what I understand kinda weak in the low end power department...is this going to be a bummer for everyday use with an automatic?

Anybody who has this set-up, or has driven a 1jze/automatic, please weigh in on this (I'd hate to find out it's a sucky combination after the fact).

Also, I've got an '87, so besides motor mounts are there any other problems with bolting up this combo?

1JZ auto here, love it!!

I shimmed my accumulators during the swap, and was planning on trying to get it built, but since the car is coming off DD status soon, I'm seriously considering shoehorning a TH400 in there.:evil2:

wastegate actuators BTW not accumulators.

why do you need a th400 unless you aim for extremely high hp goals? it requires pretty extensive modification to fit a 400, why not just get a boost logic Auto?

just wondering

a BPU 1jz car will run 13's all day long, thats plenty fast for you

Really?

My current setup (when it's running right) runs 11.90's on street tires, and I've only been playing with Supras for a little over two years... and my car started out as an N/A.

The only reason I'm considering a 1jze is, it's got a tougher bottom end.

I was building cars when you were shitting your diapers.

But thanks for the condescending attitude.

diapers huh? WTF is your problem if your current car runs 11.90 then you would not be starting over with a new platform asking how hard it is to swap motors, you keep calling it a 1jze...... Its 1jz-gte don't act like tough shit if you cant even post the correct engine code.

how about some proof that you ran 11.90?.... on street tires my ass, what with a 2.5 60ft and 125 mph trap?

seriously grow up.... if you have been messing with supra's for 2 years good for you..... Im on my 3rd supra and buying a MKIV next weekend..... so seriously STFU! and don't start shit with me because you started a thread that has been covered a hundred times, if you knew what you were doing you would know what is involved with a 1jz-GTE swap, it has been beaten to death.

My old auto 1jz Supra (the one Roxane drove) was a lot of fun, never had any problems at all. Now Mike has it and his wife drives it daily, he put a nice new paint job on it and it was in Vegas drag racing!

DLM (Dave) had the burgundy auto 1jz mk3 at Vegas, he's been to the drag strip a whole lot of times, it runs consistent 13.3-13.5sec @ 100mph 1/4 mile passes on a stock 1jz.

Oh shit son...... i guess i didn't see your 11.90 posted in this thread
http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41973

oh right cuz its not there

I'm gonna resist the urge to get into name calling, and I know what the engine code is, along with all the other toyota engine codes, as well as ford chevy pontiac, chrysler etc...

And if you were to intelligently try to understand the thread, you would have understood that what I really wanted to know was how 1jzgte(you happy now, F*** you)/ auto, ran as a daily driver. With 800 posts you think I don't know that?

Oh, and I've got the timeslips somewhere (I recently moved and they're somewhere around here) but frankly it doesn't mean shit to me what you think.

You like many others, get off on fucking with people...keyboard warrior...oooooooh your bad dude. I'm shitting myself....booostawhatchamakalhim is fucking with me....ahhhhhh....I'm so scared. I'm gonna hide under the bed cause your so fucking cool.

So pull your head out of your ass and get off my back, pmf.:madfawk:

You went off on him first. :stickpoke

You clearly mentioned this car was for a daily driver purpose. He said a BPU 1J will run 13s all day and you give him shit for being condescending?

Sorry dude, maybe your reading comprehension is a little off but... boostadikt's post didn't come off even remotely condescending the way I read it. I don't care if your car runs 9s. A 13sec capable car is plenty quick for a daily driver. Especially in LA traffic like you mentioned.

I think you're the one who needs to chill out.

You need to re-read it, he said "plenty fast for you" clearly condescending.

Thanks to those who gave me a sincere reply.

Moderator: You might want to consider locking this thread, cause I can tell it's gonna get ugly. No point.

No shit. You asked the question and he responded to YOU. Nothing condescending there.
Are you really as old as you say you are? :stickpoke

If you took it that bad, maybe you need to thicken up your skin a little bit. Honestly.

And who's fault is that?

You know what they say about throwing stones if you live in a glass house...

It's his fault. I just get tired of the negativity. I don't like this shit. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

YOU started the negativity with the shitting diapers comment. THAT was blatantly condescending and negative.

If you don't like negativity so much, why would you respond to him in such a negative manner?

While we're in the mood for old phrases, should we start talking about pots and kettles now too?

This is silly. I feel like I'm arguing with a 7th grader. I'm out. Come back with more shitting diapers comments if you wish.
