my.02c, but when I first got my blue supra I had the same problems you're experiencing, first off was the oil in the plug valley, which had absolutely nothing to do with the smoking I had later on. it was just a leaky valve cover gasket. (super common problem) Then later on I had the smoking...

chipped piston can still function correctly?

Geeze guys it's not belt sander work, but it's definately not acceptable. It looks like whoever did it either had a bad insert, or crap jammed in the seat of the insert. ( very ametureish) On top of the the dark areas appear to be spots that didn't completely cleanup. F fo fail.

chipped piston can still function correctly?

do not use that piston, the chip will create a hot spot and then you'll have even bigger problems to deal with. btw, it looks like the piston was dropped.

    Project: CNC Machined thermostat housing

sooo, I found a little bit of time to work on this, and I have two different designs. one is based off of the original. and the other is a entirely new design. With any luck I'll post them up later today or early tomarrow. Then once it's posted I'll do a vote on which design is best.

    Are helicoil taps proprietary?

BTW helicoil taps are known as STI taps in the manufacturing industry. They're kinda sorta propriatary. Being that the STI's are a ansi and iso standard sizes, and several tool manufacturers make the taps. Not just helicoil. A matter of fact they're are a few different companies that make the...

    Project: CNC Machined thermostat housing

nevermind... How about a spacer that will work with the stock housing or this housing. It would probably be cheaper than getting the next size larger stock. right now I can use 2" thick stock. if I move the outlet 3/8" I'd have to buy 2.5" thick stock, which is a lot more material to move and...

    Project: CNC Machined thermostat housing

I'm not sure where you're asking for the counterbore to be. But if you mean c-bore the bolt holes, I would need More clearance unless I included SHCS's Which would once again Drive up the price either way. Sounds about Right. I probably won't have a chance to get back to the drawing board for...
