like others are saying, that box is waaaaayyyy too lightweight. I'd use 5/8" mdf minimum. and personally I'd use 3/4" mdf. The more rigid your box is, the better the subs will sound.

I'll eventually be looking into making one out of aluminum sheet.
it's all lighting, and what's funny is in person the compressor housing is waaaayyyyy darker than the thermostat housing. It's dark maroon to be exact. And the thermostat housing in person is almost the exact same color as the factory paint.
it depends on the casting also. I've polished the living crap out of some other toyota parts and they came out matte anyway. I think it has to do with the specific formulation that they use for their castings.

The reason why it isn't glossy is because you can't get a glossy finish on castings, and the reason why the tubes aren't glossy is because I bead blasted them first to give them a matte, velvet like appearance.

lol, it's hard to get a pic that looks right. I actually bead blasted everything first wich makes it look funny, but in person it looks like red velvet.
and the turbo housing looks maroon like the car.
I'm not sure how much the color will shift, but I know from experience that it usually takes an extreme amount of heat before it does a whole lot. Plus cast aluminum acts somewhat different so this is a little bit of an experiment.
