We have been seeing a lot of hobo spiders in the apartment lately. One dropped down behind me while I was brushing my teeth in the small bathroom yesterday. Then a big one was crawling on the floor at a really inconvenient time (Which will someday make a really funny story). Then another big one was in the kitchen today... I didn't mind spiders, but now I'm seeing hobo spiders all the time and I am less ok with their existence in the house. Does anyone know of any spider repellents that are ok to spray around cats? I could really use the help/advice. They're everywhere. I'm doomed...

Thanks for the help!!!

go get a bug bomb, try and find one specifically for spiders.
Depending on the size of your house you might want to set off a couple.

if you have a garage put the cat in there for a little bit.
Set the bomb off, let set for an hour or so (or whatever the directions say)
then follow the directions for airing the house out.
I have a cat and we do this every fall when the bugs are trying to come inside for the winter.

Good Luck!!

Your cat doesn't eat them? Supposedly the poison doesn't affect cats.

There are glue traps for those little buggers just like for mice.

The last one made me really uncomfortable, so I did get the fuck out of here. Yeah, they are very similar to the brown recluse. They look very similar, but are in different parts of the North America.

What are the downsides to bug bombs?

no real downsides as long as you follow the directions fine..

I have never had any issues and we do it 2 times a year or so...

you can get them at ace/home depot/lowes, etc.

The only real downside to bug bombs is that you'll have to wash all of your dishes again after you bomb - and I mean ALL of your dishes, even the ones in the cabinets. The bug bombs will tell you to open cabinets and drawers so it can get into everything. They work great, but the dishes afterward suck.

I hate spiders...

I have a bag set up in my basement that works perfectly as a spider trap. They go in, can't get out (we used it to carry meat from parents house to ours so I guess they like the smell?). I bet I empty 15-20 out a month.

Hedge apples also work well at repelling spiders, but once they're in, I dunno if they'll work.

If that is what I do, I'm taking all the dishes with me outside to save the trouble. I heard that this neem oil stuff mixed with water repels them. I might have to try that.

I got bit by one once. Really messed me up for a few hours. Just hope you aren't allergic to them! Then you might be in trouble!
