The quality looks great, too bad he doesn't focus on something that doesn't need to be fixed. LOL.
Right on.
He should apply his skills elsewhere. The panel that he made looks really good, but MKIV lights on a MKIII is :nono:.
Sweet! Yeah, I'd love to do a 6 speed swap, but I've got other maintenance issues to take care of first. I'm doing a full bushing refresh in the rear, and have to start earlier than I planned. I have a bad right rear upper ball joint, it's clunking like crazy. :( (And took forever to track down!)
That's the plan, anyway. LOL. I suppose you're going to want me to disassemble my current differential and compare the two? :)
I'll find out if it fits within the next few months, possibly sooner. Aiming to have the differential built/usable by spring at the latest. As for strength, I guess...
I loved the 4.30 in my old car. I was pushing 300+rwhp and yeah, first gear wasn't great, but any gear after it just pulled like a freight train.
I've got a T2 4:10 Torsen going in when the new car is done.
A dude I've known for several years (he's an idiot) works at my local Toyota dealer now. He asked how my car is coming along, and proceeds to explain to me why the 2jz is so awesome. I'm like "Dude, I've got a 7M."
He argued with me. "Supras come with the 2jz, or the 1jz for older ones like...
It's mainly just a wiring change. One isn't better than the other, they're just different. The 86.5-88 (yellow plug) ECU's have an external HAC (High Altitude Compensation) sensor, while the '89+ have it internal to the ECU.
It doesn't matter if you use a pre '89 (yellow plugs) or '89+ harness (gray plugs) if you're swapping the motor into the pickup. Supracharged.com covers the wiring for both harnesses.
The only differences on the motor are a few connectors that changed between sensors. They're all one-wire...
And to anyone searching that comes up with the same symptoms, before replacing the alternator, check the brushes. They ARE replaceable in the MKIII's alternator. And, they're super cheap, about $6 for the set!
